Season 5
Sex and the City is an American comedy-drama television series created by Darren Star and set in New York City, which revolves around four (sometimes) single friends living in Manhattan - three in their mid-thirties and one in her forties - who wrestle with socially relevant issues such as sexually transmitted diseases, safe sex, multiple partners and promiscuity.
The series is based on a book of the same name written by Candace Bushnell and is centered around the main character, Carrie Bradshaw, who is a columnist for the New York Star.
Carrie has a unique fashion style with a love for shoes, especially Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo. She is intelligent, funny and extremely independent and believes in following her heart.
Samantha is a publicist and a little (ha) on the promiscuous side. Her powers of seduction are second to none and she has left no avenue unexplored. She has meaningless sexual relationships to run from commitment and emotional involvement and she is not afraid to kiss and tell all.
Charlotte is the conservative art dealer. She believes in emotional love more than lust but has been known to shock her friends with her rather raunchy bedroom antics.
Miranda is a very serious lawyer who later becomes a single mom. She is Carrie's best friend and confidante.
Sex and the City is about being a single woman in the new millennium, about shoes, fashion, penis size, cosmopolitans, sex and love. About being able to speak openly about taboo subjects. It's about taking what you want from life and not apologising for it.
The series was created by Darren Star; executive produced by Michael Patrick King, John Melfi, Cindy Chupack, Jenny Bicks and Sarah Jessica Parker.
