Season 5
Season 5 returns with several new developments, including a new presenter, new judges, a new stage and a new studio.
Radio personality Ayanda MVP is the new host, replacing Thando Thabethe, who hosted the first four seasons. DJ Zinhle and Prince Kaybee are the new season's resident judges, taking over from the previous judges, DJ Sphectacular and DJ Naves.
This season there is also a new performance stage, including an unparalleled array of DJ equipment for the contestants to engage with.
Twelve of the top house music, commercial EDM and Gqom DJs and producers from all over Mzansi will battle it out over 13 weeks for the title of Mzansi's Master of Spin.
The contestants embark on an epic journey as they face weekly, industry-based music challenges and perform to avoid being eliminated from the competition.
This season also features guest appearances from numerous well-known musicians including DJ Tira, Sun-El Musician, Moby Dixon, Lady Zamar, DJ Merlon, De Capo, Dave Skinz, Lerato Kganyago, DJ Cuebur and Miss Cosmo, among others.
For the first time, commercial EDM and Gqom are put into mix, which adds a new flavour and dynamic to the competition. This season also introduces duos and sees the benefits and disadvantages of working as a team.
The prize package for the ultimate winner – the Master of Spin – is R100,000-worth of studio and DJ equipment.
The fifth season was won by Mailo (real name Siyamthanda Thomas).
