As the season opens, it’s Gaz and Janet’s first night together as a couple. As they wait for the babysitter to arrive, they face up to the reality of Johnny’s death and realise they need to work out if they can over get over it.
Emotions run high and Gaz almost tells Janet that he is Corinthian’s dad, but before he can, she asks him to apply for parental responsibility. Will he accept?
Elsewhere, Louise struggles as a new mum, Janet is mugged by a youth and decides to become a Community Support Officer, and Donna visits from London. But what will everyone think when she decides to move back to Runcorn, bringing new boyfriend Wesley with her?
Cue much complication as Donna files for divorce from Gaz, resulting in them both questioning their feelings for one another, which in turn makes Gaz resolve to propose to Janet right away.
But the spark between Gaz and Donna cannot be suppressed and as one thing leads to another, the girls jointly confront him. Gaz is forced to choose between Donna and Janet.
But who will it be?
