As we all know, this blog is for adverts, but today I’m going to use for something much different .I will use this blog to give you and update of my Friday night!!!!!
As we all know there was a competition run by TVSA for tickets to the Survivor party. Well I entered and I won. Boy was I happy that I won, especially since it was the first time that I’ve won something (if something sound too good to be true, then it defiantely Is too good to be true). I was sooooo excited, told everybody who cared to listen that I will be at Monsoon Lagoon, rubbing shoulders with abo Gareth and all!!!
Friday afternoon I received an email from Luke(tvsa)informing me that the survivor contestants will arrive after 23h00,so I decided that I will go a bit later as I had another event to attend before going to Monsoon.
My partner and arrived after 23h00 at Monsoon, I could hear the sound pumping very loud from outside. I was sooo excited. So we approached the ladies who were at the entrance, I explained to them that I’m suppose to be on the guest list as I was one of the winners. They did not even bother to verify my story, they just pointed at my partners shoes and told us they can’t let us in as they do not allow open shoes(my partner was wearing white sandals, that matched well with his white pants and white shirt)I tried to talk our through but the ladies would not budge.
We then thought of plan B, since he was from Jozi, we decided to drive to his place so that he can change his shoes. On our way out I called Sharon as she was the one we were told to call in case of emergency, she said she is coming down to bring me my hamper but she took to long so I decided to quickly go with my partner to change his shoes. I thought I will collect my hamper when I get back, not knowing I was going to be inn for some serious drama.
As we were speeding off to my partners place we got stopped by the police. You could see that the cop approaching my car was coming with lot of attitude; he lost it all when he realized it’s a woman driving. All of a sudden my car is surrounded by five cops. As the other one was asking for my license the other cops were busy searching my car. They ordered my partner to get out of the car, the asked for his ID. He did not have it with cause we left his belongings at my place. IYO, then the biggest drama began. They claimed that my partner is too dark to be South African; they said he is a foreigner so they are arresting him and he will be deported tomorrow.
I thought they were joking, I only realize how serous they were when they pushed him into their car. They told me I can go as they are taking my partner in. As they drove off I followed them till to the police station. I kept my cool during the whole ordeal. At the station I requested to speak to the station commandor, they demanded to know what for and I told them I wanted to understand exactly the criteria they use to arrest people. I was puzzled because my partner is been detained only because he is too black and he did not have his ID. The last time I checked South Africa was a free country as we do not carry our Dom passes any more.
Fortunately the cop I was talking to had some brains in his head. He wanted to know where we were going as we were looking sassy. I told him we are covering a Survivor
Event at Monsoon(a bit of white lie there, but not too far from the truth). He wanted to know what I was doing for a living (he was getting too cozy with me) ,I told him I am working at a radio station(did not care to tell him its an in house radio station). That must have shook him because he took his colleagues aside they caucused for about 45minutes.Thereafter we were set free to leave. All I wanted to do was to get to Monsoon at least to get two to three pics of the contestants. But no, my partner would not let it rest, he wanted to open a case of harassment. Oh my goodness, I was now loosing my cool with him too, ultimately he listened to m and we left. We went to his place, he changed his shoes then we headed back to Monsoon, when we got there it was around 2am,people were still having fun but survivor contestants have long gone. I called Sharon for my hamper but unfortunately she also told me that she ahs already left. We had two drinks to cool our nerves off, they we were headed back to North West. We arrived home around 4h30.
Well that is how my Friday night went down, all I have to show for my night are two parking tickets I received when entering the gate at Emperors Palace. I’ve never been this upset in my life. I hope I can sort out my hamper issue with Sharon!!!
