thanks to Edgars & Channel O for reminding me, I'd actually forgotten that June is supposedly Youth Month. Happy Youth Month y'all, hope it's a teargas-free one!
The Edgars Music Series (EMS) is now back (was it gone? Didn't even notice!) and they've clinched the big O as one of their partners, alongside Nelly's record label Derry Entertainment and his Pimp Juice.
Oh Gaad, don't really know what all the Pimp Juice noise has been about, the damn drink doesn't make you look cool or American. I really drank lots of it, hoping I'd rap like Nelly or look like Ashanti after drinking it but you know, there's nothing to it.
Just a drink that tastes like Red Bull gone bad. Okay, not gone bad but Red Bull with a whole lot of sugar. It's sweet.
Eish, I get carried away maan, let me start from the beginning.
Channel O sent a note to say they're doing the EMS thingy and you know I have a thing for O gigs (pronounced Lungsta) so I ended up there.
Pimp Juice was the welcoming drink at the do and heish, I don't think you wanna hear about my drama at the door! Let's just say no one should give the guest list to a stubborn security guard. No disrespect intended to the other fabulous guards out there.
The partnership between these kids promises to send more of our artists to the US to go perform (take L'vovo please bantu) and also to bring international artists to the EMS concerts.
Oooh heh eh, ingathi ngiyambona uR Kelly e-Bassline lol. They might wanna reconsider the venue if they wanna do that.
Excuse time:
Okay, I was a bit far from the stage so I didn't take lots of pictures coz I thought they won't be nice...and there was that smoky thing they like having on...eish.
It was Party Time:
Date: 1 June 2007
Venue: Bassline, Newtown
Line-up: Kabelo ,Thebe ,Flabba ,ZuluBoy, Queen With DJ Waxxy and Black Coffee.
I don't remember seeing Black Coffee but DJ Waxxy is my DJ of the moment!! He rocked that mad crowd vhaa!!!
The place was packed and Jozi people don't care about the weather maan, fun comes first.
I know it looks like 2 Zamani lookalikes but I think this is Zuluboy?? I don't know maan, they were just irritating me. You know when the music is great and you just wish people would shut up and not sing coz they waste they song when they open their mouth? I felt that way.
I missed Queen's perfomance and I heard from my reliable sauces (since y'all don't trust sources) that her dancers were a bit overdressed. I'm not really mad I missed it, I'm sure there's a reason why.
I always get tears in my eyes when I see her.
This is dark but the person on stage is Proverb, the crowd really liked him. Hip Hop is big in this town.
So why am I always the last to find out about things??
How come nobody told me that Proverb moved from YFM to Metro??? He's appararently producing The Avenue with Glen and Unathi and nobody told me!!!
Eish these Channel O VJ's are all over too. Y'all heard mos there's this Channel O Radio thing that is being tried out now. Not much detail is coming foward but I know there's a Jozi FM somewhere there and as you might have read, 3 Sum are also presenting kae kae moo...yho, I wonder what they talk about.
So if you've been wondering why Laura ain't doing Oboma anymore, she's on Channel O radio, or so I hear.
Another Channel O radio man is Kabelo, my lovely Kabelo.
Oh Gaaddd, each time I see him, I"m reminded of just how much I like him. I have this thing for crazy boys, I don't know why and Kabelo Ngakane is charming. Has anyone heard his 5FM show? I haven't heard but I'm sure it's rockas.
He's off to Jamaica and Miami at the end of this month, you know I will fill you in on what's happening there, watch this space.
Lungsta was the hyperactice MC at the do and he's pictured here with people picked by the Fashion Police as the hottest dressed in the house.
Now one look at those people should tell you that we need a commission of inquiry for those fashion police, they're corrupt.
What was so special about the fashion on that stage??
If there is anyone here who has access to Lungsta's wardrobe please grab those pants and run a pair of scissors through them. Seen enough.
No, that ain't Uyanda Mbuli on the left with the red
figure belt.
Oooh people, truth be told,
Kabelo "Yama-Repeat" Mabalane needs to edit the stage routine. 01 June 2007 and his perfomance is exactly the same as the one he gave on New Years eve at Mary Fitzgerald Square. Yini baba??
I promise you, I know the whole set, when he jumps, when he takes off the shirt and just exactly what comes when.
The perfomance was hott regardless.
Just need to know why anyone would be stupid enough to schedule General (Mandoza's former sidekick) to perfom after Kabelo, the people started leaving while he was trying to perform on stage. Ke sono bathong shem.
P.S. Wena Kabelo, why are you hiding Howza from us, heh??
David Kau (
whose relationship with Channel O I have to investigate), was there and he still had that cap on. Damn, what is it with that thing? I didn't ask him about it though, there were other pressing matters....
(He walks in, I've never met him before and here's what happens, no greetings...)
Shuga: I hear you're getting married???
David: Are you coming?
Shuga: If you invite me
David: You should come
Shuga: Yeah and I'll be on time for when the priest asks us to "forever hold our peace".
David: (Laughs) O sele (
means you're naughty)
Don't know it that's a yes or no but I heard the marriage rumour and he's got the woman's pictures all over his myspace spage.
As for the other performers, I left Flabba's perfomance halfway, couldn't handle it and as for Thebe's dance moves, haikhona the guy is funny.
He's very entertaining though and I love his personality on stage. Reminds me of
L'vovo "Insential rush" Derango.
Just a word of advice to the beautifu gal who was singing with him:
Sisi, trying to be smart over a song done by Zonke does not work!! Y nimosha ingoma zabantu heh?? If Zonke sang it in a certain way then that's how it SHOULD be sung, period. Nikz maninginingi remix lapha!! And u-styf maan sisi.
Okay party though....
