They might not necessarily be millionares but here at Bloggin Billionaires we do acknowledge people who hustle to make a decent buck (and ofcourse to trash those who flick non existent cash). Here is a list of five soap stars who are working extra hard and running businesses on the side. Who knows. If they hustle hard enough, they might make the top 20 list next time. hi hi hi. I must say they are not in order of whose richer than who, but who hustles harder. In our dictionary husstle means (works hard and smart - ok? good. Here we go:
Sophie Ndaba
Has been reported as saying she is deeply hurt by the fact that Generations bosses pay new actors on the show (like Vusi Kunene, Leleti Khumalo and Menzi Ngubane) more than her.She has been with Generations since its inception in 1995 and is said to pocket around R50 000 a month from it. Apart from the commercials she does every now and again, this mama runs a fairly successful wedding planning business. It may not rake in that much but it is steady and will be around for some time. I bet.
Michele Botes
Said to get over R72 000 from Isidingo (more than Robert Whitehead). She also has another form of income.Forget the insurance adverts. She has a jewelry making business on the side and it is working out. After her divorce (in real life) she didn’t get much and had to swoop her lovely (but not that plush) homw for a two bedroom apartment in Jozi’s Nothern suburbs. But she is cracking making it in leaps and bounds.
Nico Panagio
Panagio (you know him from Seven deLaan- that is if you watch it) has secured himself a job as part of the Top Billing presenting crew. Used to earn R30 000 in Seven de Laan. That’s not it. He and his wife Christie (who plays Karien Momberg in seven de Laan) have teamed up and started a hip clothing line called UCB (United Colors of Benetto)
Sthandiwe Msomi
Miss Sthandiwe has made no secret of the fact that she was advised by her father to use the fact that she was born in Ohio (USA) to her advantage. You know all these people who were born in exile and all have doors open for them- sometimes you don’t know what exactly their folks did to get them chased outa the country (for instance, we know Thandiswa Mazwai’s dad is a politician who was part of the ANC- but the Mazwai’s weren’t exiled) someone care to enlighten me as to what Sthandiwe’s folks were exiled for?I’m not gonna comment further on that now let’s talk about money.
Msomi earned a reported R45 000 a month in Generations before she left now she is reported to get over R60 000 in Isidingo. Not just that she runs a fashion joint Poetry Museum and it is loft and fancy, you get a glass of wine, park your ass on a comfy and costly couch while discussing what kinda design you want. She does granny chic clothing (not quite houte couture but sophisticated enough- at least in Babini’s high standards).
Ashley Callie
Reported to now pocket about R68 000 from her Isidingo character but that’s not all.Miss Lee is a partner in a very high-society eatery called La Vista Social Club. It’s situated in Melville. It is frequented by businessmen and women, politicians and the like. Way to go Miss Lee!
