The upcoming
reality stripping show on actionX, Stripteaze, will be hosted by
Binnelanders actor and former
Backstage star
Antonio Summerton.
Best known for his role as Jason on the e.tv soapie Backstage from 2000-2002, Summerton sees hosting the saucy new show as a challenge.
“It’s not about how many items of clothing are removed," he said in a statement.
"My winner should embody a sensuality and that ability to engage me when dancing so that I feel that in a room with more than 200 people, for those two minutes or more... I’m the only person there."
The show will also feature star panelist Christina Storm, the model best known for her, uh, stormy relationship with former rugby star James Small.
The Pretoria-born model was discovered on the streets of Amsterdam, and flown to Paris just two weeks later to shoot a cover for Vogue.
In between producing fashion shows under the Hail Mary banner, and looking after 3 year-old Ruby, her role on the show is to sit on the judging panel, alongside Teazers owner Lolly Jackson.
She says she’ll be looking for an overwhelming confidence from the contestants.
“Apart from that,” she says, “the ideal contestant will have a great body and a beautiful face - their whole presentation should be appealing and sensual, from their dance moves to the outfit they have chosen, as well as make up and hair.
"It’s about the package.”
The big question, of course, is what do Christina and Antonio’s parents think of their involvement in the raunchy show?
“They believe in me and trust my judgement,” says Christina. “I’ve always had their support in whatever I do”.
Antonio knew he had the job as soon as he left the audition, and also has the support of his folks. ”They trust my judgement and never question the work I do, as long as I’m happy. I have the most supportive and loving folks in the world,” he says.
Stripteaze premieres on actionX on Wednesdy 1 September, at 23h00.
