Background:
(This is all your fault!!)About a week ago Sakhani held the Scandal crew hostage because Eddie didn’t deliver on his promise. Eddie had promised this poor man that he would write a story – more an expose- on the killing of Sakhani’s son at the hands of Laqasha. Any intelligent journalist would not write a story without facts to back up the claim so Eddie’s crime is stringing this man along and not delivering on his promise. Sakhani just got fed up with checking the paper/headlines day in and day out for the story which just never appeared.
In a rush of fury and frustration, he headed over to the Scandal offices and demanded to see Eddie who was in a meeting with Mo and Daniel. Palesa tried to explain that Eddie was in a meeting but he ignored her and barged into the offices where he found the 3 sitting around a table. A screaming match and a couple of insults from Daniel later, and Sakhani just lost it! He demanded their cellphones and informed them that they would not be leaving the building until Laqasha showed his face (an indication that Laqasha has telepathic abilities, perhaps?). Sakhani expressed his desire to be a current-time action hero and wants the TV crew and policemen to witness this bravery on his part so he told Palesa (the receptionist) to go ahead and call the police.
Back to the future:
As Sakhani was ushering the guys (Daniel, Morongwe, Palesa, Eddie) into some back room, Tino made his entrance and menacingly approached Sakhani –whose back was towards him- with a very sharp pen in hand. Palesa just couldn’t stop herself from staring at Tino which expectedly gave his presence away…Sakhani turned in time to see the deathly pen in Tino's hand and he shot him in the neck.
Last night we saw Tino with a bandaged neck looking really out of it, Abigail, Eddie, Mo and David begging Sakhani to let Tino go as that would stand him in good stead in negotiating a lesser sentence. Poor man almost cried relating the irony of how he's been a security guard for 15years of his life, protecting people and their property and how no one protected his son (Zakhele).
The Khumalos (sans Palesa and Eddie)
With the hostage drama receiving news coverage, Maletsatsi, Lolo and JJ were watching all this drama unfold and Lolo suddenly realised how fickle life is and she apologised for her bitchiness. She told Maletsatsi how jealous she's been of Palesa's relationship with Fana and in the sudden change their lives have taken, she's realised that she could lose those people close to her (including daddy dearest)
Back to the newsroom:Meanwhile, downstairs Thato- being a nurse- convinced the policemen to allow her to go upstairs so she can save Tino's life.
When Thato got out of the lift and into the newsroom, she saw Tino looking unconscious and the bandage around his neck looking more red than white and she rushed over to him but ofcourse Sakhani rules this nest and demanded to know who the heck she is otherwise he will
SHOOT her!
Thato explained she's a nurse and is there to save Tino's life, who required urgent medical care. Sakhani is a busy man everyone....all he does in there is pace the floors and threaten to
SHOOT everyone that defies him or backchats.
In fact, I think the only fear in everyone's heart is the possibility that Tino might die and not that Sakhani could actually go ahead and SHOOT them!
As Sakhani was busy pacing the floor, Daniel admonished Thato for placing her life on the line like this and asked her if she was thinking of her kids (Mangi and Busi). Sakhani paced back in time to see these two whispering and demanded to know what they were talking about and concluded that Thato must be a policewoman! She denied this nonsense and of course Sakhani threatened to
SHOOT her!
A desperate Abigail promised Morongwe that she will wipe off her debt to her (Mo’s debt to Abigail) should Mo help her carry out a plan to end the Sakhani debacle. Abigail then told Sakhani that she had a message from Laqasha for him and that she would like them to talk in private because what she had to say was for his ears only. After a bit of resistance by Sakhani, he eventually agrees. So Abigail, Mo and Tino went to Daniel Nyathi’s office. Abigail told him that she was Laqasha and when Sakhani didn’t believe her, she told him [Sakhani] how his son died, which convinced him that Abigail was really Laqasha.
So the drama came down to Sakhani having to decide whether he is going to avenge his son’s death by killing Laqasha. Gun was pointed to Abigail’s face but he hesitated. Abigail told him that a lot of people have tried to bring Laqasha down, but have not succeeded even his son failed. While this was happening, Morongwe was pulling her gun out. She fired twice , knocking Sakhani out.
The rest of the staff was at the receptionist area, arguing about what they should do, when they heard the shots. Alex went upstairs to find Sakhani down and everybody else still alive. He hugged his “shell-shocked” wife who explained that she had to shoot Sakhani, because he was going to shoot Abigail.
So in the end Morongwe, saved the day and removed this bad-acting man from our screens....cute but a terrible actor no less!
