Last night Maureen followed Code to become the ninth housemate whacked from BB Africa. The countries that voted for her are: Ghana, South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Namibia, Zimbabwe and the rest of Africa.
Surprisingly or not surprisingly Malawi and Uganda voted for Ofunekka and Zambia voted for Titiana, very possibly showing how the final voting's gonna go number-wise.
As Baureen came out of the house KB hysterically tried to deal with her bizarre creepy behaviour that involved her hiding away from him and declaring her love for Code in between calling out "Look at me" every two seconds.
Much more absorbing was the announcement of Kenya's Ashanti and Zimbabwe's Victor as the two the new mole housemates. I've been very excited about the twist 'cos TVSA
suggested it before the show started and I've dying to see how it's going to work out.
All was going well for the first few minutes when the kinky threesome realised it's not the end for them yet and went shuffling into the Diary Room looking haggard.
Everyone was so bewildered anything would have gone down with them so Ashanti and Victor's first moments were fine but then unfortunately the next two hours were a disappointing downhill trip. By 10pm the kinky's had climbed into bed and went off to sleep 99.999% convinced they're being conned while Ashanti and Victor lay in the room next door struggling to sleep 'cos of how fresh they are - which was a major problem from the start.
Richard immediately commented on how new their clothes and hair look which in combo with the ludicrous story they've spun was a dead giveaway from the start. I don't understand why they didn't go with the simple story that they'd been voted in as extra housemates from the outside - this is how BB Nigeria's Katung got in so it's a realistic thing plus he won so they'd have seen the situation as being a major threat.
The story they've told them about an exact double house is way too huge and improbable to be believable and also the way Ashanti and Victor responded to things didn't give even a suggestion that they've been cooped up for over 80 days and had just been told it was all for nothing.
None of their responses or attitudes were convincing and I was cringing that they were gonna come up with different story's in the same breath - they didn't seem to have discussed what their circumstances are supposed to be at all.
Also the fact that they told them they're both models and actors and didn't change what they do was ridiculous 'spesh seeings as the very fact that they're models is part of why they're not convincing actors.
There were a couple of fun moments in between when they quizzed Richard on his wife and he flung himself around on the couch with Tatiana clinging to him but they didn't get nearly edgy enough and other than that not a single interesting thing happened.
It wasn't only them - I couldn't believe that the camera people and editor managed to stuff up the most important shot of the episode. We didn't even get to see the first moment of everyone clapping eyes on each other!
Also
- Ashanti and Victor (I think both of them) were called to the Diary Room but we didn't see what they had to say - I don't even know if they did an entry or if they just went for something practical - whichever it was it was an opportunity missed to share something different with us.
All in all it seemed that neither the show nor the actors did anything except pitch on the scene and expect things to pan out without thinking about how to make it as believable as possible.
As soon as the housemates know what's happening Ashanti and Victor have to leave and sadly I think it might happen today. I wish more than anything that it wouldn't - it would be soo cool to see it play out convincingly but as things ended when everyone went to sleep I just don't see how they can be made to re-buy into it.
The only way it could possibly, maybe work is if Ofunneka and Richiana play them at their own game and pretend they really believe them and mess with their heads instead.
