This article was inspired by this picture, ikasi is really changing, talk about bringing the ‘burbs to elokshini.

A colleague mentioned the other day what a killer time he had the other weekend at CAPPELLO’s in Soweto, I was like what, where you there? It so happened that, that weekend I went past a CAPPELLO’s in Kliptown, seeing the many cars that were parked outside I was damn sure ukuthi the place was packed and beziwa mo ngaphakathi. Maara since me and my boys were going to enye indawo we resisted the urge to pop in & told ourselves we will pay the place a visit in the not too distant future. My colleague let me know that the Cappellos that he was at was the one eseJabulani Mall and I was like WTF, kanti ziyi 2 ezindawo eSoweto, I was amazed.

Then I thought let me share this info with my fellow bloggers and find out if abantu are feeling the vibe yaselokshin, r they hanging out there, doing shopping ekasi since kunemalls like your Jabulani and Maponya Mall? I went to the Maponya Mall, I think, about two weeks after it opened. I was damn impressed with the shops ezikhona phaya like ooFabiani, Kurt Geiger and others. The only other place I saw that shop (Fabiani) kuse Cape Town, eWaterfront, I cant remember if eCavendish ikhona na. The mall even has its own website, check out the info….

I remember the other day, wanting to go to THE MANSION, GODFREY MOLOI’s house for Oskido and Denis Ferrer’s PARTY but had no idea where the place was and I ended up not going, I am sure if I made a few calls eventually I would have found the place, but with my expensive habit decided to save the cash. I would like to ASK fellow bloggers to share their experiences (Other Places to Hang out) and possibly include details of how to get there and we could use this place as a reference.

There was once a site, which I used to visit regularly but I have since noticed it has not been updated in a long time. If you happen to know the owner, maybe it would be a good idea to let him know he needs to revive it.

Me needs to get me a house elokshin, before the prices rocket sky high, since I cannot afford suburban living, akukho niks that u get kwisuburbs that you cant get ekasi and more.

The places that have websites also have maps to help you get to them. If you happen to have a car with a GPS (or possess a portable one) hopefully these places are loaded on the maps.
You can also fone the places to reserve your preferred table.

Disclaimer.:

When I was writing this article I had 1 blue e pill, a thin 15cm joint of weed & 1 ngudu of Black Label. If you find it all over the place and you wondering if Nastrix and I are related, you are probably right….. I had given her a bag a COKE before she wrote her blog so pps please understand…

A place that really rocks in Soweto is Ozone in Moletsane. Don't ask me for directions but I think it is listed in Sowetorocks.co.za. It's where Kalawa Jazzme shot the "Fokol" video for Alaska.

Soweto rocks I love iKasi so much. I use to frequent i the Rock but since the manangement changed it downgrading there were boys spinning their cars just in front of the entrance which was very scary I must say.

And I like the Panyaza butchery for Sunday chilling, their meat is to die for.

Then there is SkeemGp (www.skeemgp.co.za) Katlhong another place is also at Attregeville kaMashwabana the owner, it also off the hook.

Amakasi ase Jozi are nice for sure.......

LMAO @the disclaimer...h hi hi

phew..as for Durban lokshin hot-spots  where the city meets the lokshin i'd have to say currently Shadows in Clermont has evri spense hooked so much tht apparently even the mlungus brave the lokshin tsotsis and go there....and tyhen there anther hangout called Skotties which sundaysun thought was a bit shady but still its betta than yo average lokshin shibizaring plek

and then in town there's a twist of "lokshin meets the city"  a drinkin hole /cafe/launge called Mkhumbane  -afta the apertheid era name for the porpular chesterville lokshin and the owner said he's trying to revive the lokshin  of chesterville.in town..but then its slept on..maybe in decemba pliz holla at these joints....

you are right about buyin a house in the lokshin and cretin a hot rockin funky spot for the BEE's...lol

Hi all,
Soweto has changed so much that I get my white colleagues calling me asking for directions to certain places - a few months back I didn't know there was something going down at Capellos in Jaulani Mall only to hear about it from colleagues who live in Sunninghill.
I'm going to be at the opening of News Cafe (Maponya Mall) just to see what it has in store.

Nice discovery peeps. I was reading this book "Soweto iside-out" I forget the author. Ever wonderd what SOWETO means? SOWETO is actually an abbreviation of  SOuth - WEstern -TOwnships. You know, during those days when amaburu used the law of segregation (Ihi...ihi...ihi...am sobbing)and decided that blacks must all be placed in one place ,far from civilisation. Thats how the South Western Townships were born. I've only been there twice and i was high, he..kwenze njani madoda? why does it seem like we  all go to Soweto bosiu and drunk?

mayo
03 Nov 2007 07:40

@chitty lol at amaburu!!

Sdakamiswa
07 Nov 2007 05:04

@chitty...... onke amaKasi are positioned like that, the law of segregation u mentioned..... look at Gugulethu/Khayelitsha eKapa, ujonge iMdantsane eMonti(East London), Umlazi eNatal, nakwezinye indawo am sure it is like that............... On top of that look at how many Taverns/shebeens were there during that time(and even now) & how easy it was to get that liquor license....kwek lamabhuru asibulala ........

On a lighter note.......

WHO'S GOING TO THE NEWS CAFE GRAND OPENING TONIGHT?
