FINE LINE BETWEEN LIFE & DEATH

Lately, storylines comprising unwanted pregnancies have been doing the rounds.
Firstly we have Thembi, the young writer with her bright future ahead of her, regrettably falling pregnant with the Womaniser Dj Ngwazi's baby.

Secondly Sindi a teenager barely out of pampers herself, left by her Baby daddy to fend for herself and her unborn child.
Thirdly, a young school girl, who had to drop out school to care for her baby, who has no plans on completing her high school career.

The question arises, concerning both fictional scenarios which mirror reality, is ABORTION a logical option?

This brutal Act can be described as the forced removal of an unborn foetus due to unfortunate circumstances which are not conducive to its existence.

From a moral point of view abortion is unacceptable and has no basis nor tolerance in the Bible. It is described as the unforgivable spilling of innocent blood and cannot be condoned .

From a non-religious viewpoint abortion is a realistic and viable option for women who have no means to support an unplanned pregnancy.

Factually 126 000 babies are aborted everyday worldwide and 46 million babies are aborted every year worldwide, that is equal to South Africa’s total population.

Legalized in Mzantsi, a bill has been passed that children as young as 12, may have abortions without their parents consent. Arguably this could lead to a raise in abortions among the 12-17 year old age group as young women have been found to use abortion as a contraceptive method.

Clearly The Governments efforts at informing the masses of Abstinence, Faithfulness and Utilization of condoms are falling short, as women have to deal with the harsh reality of Abortion as a choice.

By legalizing Abortion for girls as young as 12 has a greenlight been granted for our youth to participate in sexual activities?

Great article Uber B*, but in response to “By legalizing Abortion for girls as young as 12 has a greenlight been granted for our youth to participate in sexual activities?” I don’t agree with you. The government is saying that should it happen that you engage in sex, you would rather terminate than to have a baby at a young age. I am a Christian, and I agree that abortion is wrong, but I have witnessed instances where people had no choice but to go ahead and do it. For example there was a 14 year old from the rural areas that looked after other kids in the family, she did it.

Cleavovo we are condoning low morale when we even try to give an explanation for a 12 yr old that is engaging in sexual activities.
Whatever happened to children being children and engaging in children activities. Why are adults accomodating children who are showing ill-discipline by engaging in adult activities?

don't forget issues around sexual abuse, hello, we're in S.A.! - i'm sure that there are enough 12 year olds who find themselves pregnant  who did NOT consent to the sex that resulted in pregnancy...

one thing is certain-teen(child) pregnancy is a reality and one we cannot escape. the question is are we going to shun away from the reality of our society and hide behind our morals and values instead of ending the scourge that is children born to imcapable'parents'? i mean, would we rather have 12 and 15 year olds popping babies they can't care for just because we feel selfrighteous enuff to condemn abortion? its a personal choie and decision which mustn't be taken lightly but should be viewed as a viable option to curb an already sick society.

i shudder to think u actually said this and even brought THE BIBLE into this...same bible that says he who is without sin be the first to cast a stone...

neway i feel it's MORALLY WRONG for a person to judge others for their actions. i personally would never consent to an abortion but that does not mean i judge those that do...people have their own personal reasons for doing it and why judge when u don't know the whole story...even if you do know the reasons behind, it is NOT YOUR CHOICE TO MAKE!

shoo...once again i tell myself to stay away from such controversial topics but i cnan't seem to...
