Rise and shine, uhm, e.tv! TVSA can reveal first and exclusively that the sun is setting on e.tv's breakfast show Morning Edition, which - if you dare to remember the horror - started out as The Toasty Show.
Yep, Morning Edition, shown weekdays on e.tv between 6h00 and 8h00 has it's days numbered according to several reliable sources from inside the e.tv operation that will soon be cranking out their 24-hour news channel.
In April Morning Edition will be replaced by Sunrise as part of a precursor to the e.news 24-hour news channel that will launch at the beginning of June.
According to sources, Sunrise will be the news channel's flagship morning programme and will be stripped to be ''simulcast'' and be shown at the same time on the free to air e.tv channel.
Sunrise will sport a trendy new look and also new presenters, be more newsy with more fixed features, inserts and be more cutting edge since it will be manned by the people running the 24 hour news operation. The channel is in the proess of preparing Sunrise for an April debut so that morning show runners are already somewhat used to producing the morning chat-fest by the time the news channel starts two months later.
