First off, i take back every bad thing i said about Bay of Plenty because of recent developments on this show. It was premature in any event to assume that the show was an accident-a wreck-a write off, because it isn't!
Set in the Durban beachfront, the main cast is made of the following people:
Jabulani Mchunu With his sexy good looks and charm, the girls love this friendly, easy-going, laid-back champion body boarder. He lives in a beachfront flat through which people such as visiting overseas surfers are forever coming and going. He’s the senior life guard of the team. Currently dating Tracy and experimenting with Viagra!
Ciao Ngwenya -call him Chawe please! Ciao is a not-always-so-silent version of the strong, silent type, who guards his personal space as vigilantly as he guards the beach. He’s 23 years old and lived in an RDP house with his on-off girlfriend
Lihle. He has gotten himself in a situation that's strangely eery but looks harmless from the outside with baddie Tony (played by
Bheki Sibiya). Has slept with Phindi twice and each time denies his feelings for her. Wish i was playing Phindi's part in this series he he he.
Phindi Bulunga The daughter of a taxi driver and mechanic, Phindi’s journey to become a life guard has not been an easy one. Surrounded by a group of older gangster brothers Phindi is a rebel and a tomboy. Currently infatuated-no, in love-with Chawe and has been told in face-to-face that her love interest has no interest in her, right after a roll in the hay!
Mandla Nyawose (saw him on Isidingo and LMAO!!)Wheelin’ and dealin’ Mandla is seriously ambitious-as a lifeguard! As always, he manages to experiment with drugs and has been fooling us by declaring that he's lost weight when all he's done is BULK himself up!
Tracy She is Jabulani's on-screen girlfriend and looks good in a bikini. Nothing much to say about her at this stage as i don't see her as anything other than what she is. Don't know what kind of work she does or where she comes from, who her family is, what pisses her off-cause eish this lady is always smiling!
Teresa and her crew: 1. Teresa is pregnant with boyfriend's child.
2. Boyfriend's mother convinced her to terminate the pregnancy and she pretended to but decided to keep the baby-although strangely not showing yet-as is the norm in TV-land.
3. Lives with her mom, gran, brother Mandla and sometimes makes an appearance on the show long enough to show us her baby scans
So in the past week we had Tony beating up Palesa (girlfriend/wife) for revealing Chawe’s whereabouts to Phindi.
We saw Phindi looking for Chawe in the prostiture infested motel he’s living in (holed up in) .We saw Phindi and Chawe in each other’s arms once more and then Chawe chasing Phindi out of his life.
Then we were unfortunate to witness Phindi’s wrecking sobs just outside the Motel after her altimatum to Chawe bore no desired results!
