Hey Bloggers, u asked to be informed about what is happening la eTRUfm (89.9Mhz), well then:
POPULAR trufm DJ and youth activist Naye Lupondwana left the youth station 4 greener pastures at SAfm.
Lupondwana, 30, who presented "The Nest: at trufm, left in June and is standing in for Eric Miyeni, who is out of the country until next month.
The Mthatha-born radio DJ is contracted to host his own show, Twilights, at the national broadcaster when Miyeni returns.
SAfm must be totally different ball game. At trufm he was a youth activist and was talking directly to his peers. If he said something wrong we would tell him straight on air.
And now (at SAfm) he must be more careful of his facts and be responsible, because he deals with an audience that already knows what it wants. It’s a learning curve and we will not be there now, we just cant listen to a very serious radio station like SAfm
Former BayFM disc jockey Xola Stefaans has since taken over Lupondwana’s old slot, as well as Joy Ride, a show formerly represented by the late Alex Cata, he was also my friend and his death........eish, it costed mi. he died in a car accident three months ago. he was so qt.
Lupondwana made clear his intentions to move to another station late last year after he had been at trufm for seven years. Following his application to different radio stations, SAfm roped him in.
SAfm programme manager Mike Roberts said Lupondwana came on board when they were making a few changes with the station’s programming and had introduced a new show. He was one of many people they auditioned.
.Naye is refreshing and oozes confidence. He has a good radio history and a knack for music, which are the qualities that fitted the person we had in mind.
Despite the pressure that comes with a shift from a regional station to a national broadcaster, Lupondwana said he was not fazed by the challenge.
It’s a psychological advantage, rather. In radio you deal with people you don’t see. This time it’s on a bigger scale, and I’m making sure that I enjoy it, he said.
Lupondwana’s trufm show, The Nest, addressed youth-related issues such as teenage sexuality, employment and education.
He is also involved with a number of youth organisations.
yeah, dat's it
