On Sunday night 25-year old Nigerian student and model Uti Nwachukwu was the third housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother house.

Up against Ricco and lovelorn Munya, Uti was evicted by 7 countries to Munya's 6 after being nominated by Munya, Mimi and TK .

On Monday afternoon I put on a pair of new Foschini sunglasses (sitting inside natch), chucked objects around (destroyed glass lamp, smashed mirror, doors etc) and threw our questions at him :

Tashi: Why do you think you were voted out?
Uti: I don’t know, I’m not in people’s heads but think it was the tantrum from last week, Sunday, yeah I think that that’s pretty much the main reason.

Tashi: When you saw Mimi had nominated you you said she was a backstabber etc but surely you should have known that some of the housemates - the chicks in particular - would have been unimpressed with your violent outburst?
Uti: Yeah but I don’t think Mimi nominated me because of my violent outburst - I wouldn’t like to call it violent because I don’t look at it as being violent. Violence would be attacking someone and I didn’t exactly attack someone - in fact I did not attack anyone. I was just letting off some steam and I let it off on inanimate objects.

I mean if I’d thrown something at Ricco or whoever who was in the room with me then you could say it was violent plus it was just a show you know - it’s a bit boring when you’re just one character throughout so you have to give people something to look at.

Then again Mimi - everyone was like” That girl’s a backstabber, she’s wicked, she didn’t have your back right from the start.“ I had her back thinking "Nigeria and Ghana: West/West" but you know what, I don’t even care anymore because if I’d stayed one more week I’d have lost it.

Tashi: She gave that as her reason though.
Uti: That was just a nasty excuse man, trust me.

Tashi: What do you think her real reason was?
Uti: She probably felt threatened by me - from what I’ve been hearing about the things she was saying she probably felt jealous and threatened. She was the only girl to have nominated me - if it was because of my behaviour, trust me all the girls would have nominated me but she was the only female to nominate me - and then TK also gave that nasty reason about the violence thing.

TK, please - does he look like he could be scared of me? you know; and then Munya I always felt the tension from.

I didn’t really feel him like that - he came up as unreal to me, the accent and everything. He’s just someone I didn’t really ... I could sense he wasn’t really bold enough to stand up to me.

I don’t know, there was just something - he was suppressed whenever I was around so I guess that also made him feel uncomfortable - plus I read that he said I was frustrating him, I was like “Dude, I wasn’t taking anything personal so why were you frustrated?”

2_uti

Tashi: You told KB that your outburst was an act - was it?
Uti: Yeah it was, people love drama, I wanted to give drama. People are used to the whole sweet, funny, charming Uti and I wanted to them to go *positive surprise* “Why did he do that?” but apparently the “Why did he do that?” was a negative one so I guess it didn’t really work for me.

Tashi: So what else was an act?
Uti: That was, but also mixed with a lot of steam I had in me to let off so it was an exaggerated act.

Obviously my nightmare stories - people were putting so much pressure on me man - I had to think of something to tell them because of them reading about the scary movies that come from Nigeria so I had to manufacture things. Some of the storylines were original but I had to add in my own mix of things. Apart from that it was all Uti.

Tashi: What about your views on date rape?
Uti: What did I say about date rape?

Tashi: I can’t remember - I just know a lot of bb fans were very upset about them. What are your views on date rape?
Uti: I think it was that all child molesters and rapists should be killed - that they deserve the death sentence because I don’t feel for rapists or molesters.

One thing I would have said about date rape is that you have to take the necessary steps to avoid these things, that some people throw themselves into the situation - not defending rapists in any way but I’m like, some girls don’t know a guy, they meet him for the day, they’re not dressed protectively/ dressed provocatively or whatever and they follow him home. I’m like :”What do you expect? Why would a guy want to take you home? To play checkers in a room?”

Girls should know guys take them home for one thing, sex - most times guys think girls know these things, then they take them home and maybe the girl leads him on and then decides that she wants to go out - it’s not an excuse once again - but then again, most dudes don’t have self control and push themselves on women.

Most chicks have to learn to take preventative measures: do not follow strangers home, do not hitchhike, do not get fresh with people you don’t know - these are the measures you have to take.

Tashi: What about all the lazing around you did instead of being involved in the tasks - was that an act?
Uti: No I did get involved in the tasks - it’s just that I didn’t get involved early. If you’d watched the show properly you’d see that on the final day or second day I started involving myself more.

If you’d watched most times when we were posting the wager, most times my opinions were undermined and when I feel undermined I feel people don’t need my assistance but then when they express the fact that they need my help, of course I’ll jump in.

It was something I learnt in the house - I had to learn how to work with people because I’m used to working along and doing things my way so I had learn how to work with people and agree with people.

Tashi: So all the sleeping you did at the beginning - was that you just being sulky?
Uti: Not sulky, bored man - I get bored very easily because I’m a lively, outgoing person and when you don’t reciprocate that thing back to me I get bored and when I’m bored I sleep, especially when I eat and there’s nothing to do - I sleep man.

Shower hour Day 1 & 2 - nowhere in the pictures

Tashi: Why did you avoid showering for so long?
Uti: Showering naked?

Tashi: No showering. It was something like three days before you had your first shower.
Uti: That’s wicked! I had a bath from the very first day - maybe they didn’t show it but I showered every day with my boxers on - sometimes twice a day.

Tashi: Who looks the best naked up close?
Uti: I don’t know, I never really looked at anybody naked. I think the only chick to shower naked was Tawana - the rest showered with bikini’s ... Latoya, sometimes she’d shower with panties on or naked.

Tashi: So who looks the best in the shower up close?
Uti: I’m not really sure ... all the chicks were hot man, they all had nice bodies - apart from one that I’m not gonna say, but the rest had nice bodies.

Tashi: And of the guys?
Uti:  I wouldn’t know aaah!, - me, me, me, me, me I think I had a good body in the shower, ja.

Tashi: *evil laugh* Onto Thami - why were you such a bully to him?
Uti: Aaaah! You think I was a bully to Thami? You guys, ah man - just because I was more domineering and my voice was louder doesn’t mean I was a bully. Thami used to pick on me constantly - most of the arguments between me and Thami were just about me defending myself.

Thami used to pick on me calling me bighead, chickenlegs and my voice is bigger and louder than is and my way can be very brash and in-your-face so it can seem like it’s me picking on him but if you go back and watch the replays he starts it.

Tashi: But at the beginning you started with all the jokes about him being chubby, fat, dah-dah-dah-dah.
Uti: Yeah, Thami started with calling me bighead, then I started calling him fatboy and retard, that’s how I treat my friends back home, it’s because I found a friend in him. If you spent time with me and my friends back home you wouldn’t believe we were friends.

I don’t think he took it personally, he didn’t seem like he did, trust me. If there was anyone I picked on the house, it was Morris. It wasn’t really picking on him, more a friendly joking.

Tashi: If you and Sheila were so tight why didn’t you pursue a relationship with her?
Uti: When we were tight initially it wasn’t anything to do with attraction and when that started to happen she leaned over to TK and I’m not one to fight for a chick. I don’t do that, I don’t ever intend to do that - if you like me, you like me, let it be. I couldn'tt afford to step in line and say “Choose, choose.” Either you like me or you don’t - I’m at peace with that.

Tashi: She’s obviously using TK ‘cos he’s regularly head of house.
Uti: I doubt that, I really, really, really doubt that.

Tashi: Her lesbo tendencies - is it all an act?
Uti: It might be a gimmick but then again, with all the controversy about sexuality it would be very daring to risk that, to come out on national television and say you’re bi-sexual. Why would she lie about it? It’s a free country, free world - I don’t think it’s a big crime in Kenya, it might be a crime in Kenya but not when it’s not in people’s faces or whatever.

I don’t think it’s part of her strategy - you know, when you’re locked up int he house you can be attracted to the most random person, someone you thought you’d never ever be attracted to. Especially if you’re someone who likes attention, you’d be attracted to the person who gives the most attention which is what she did.

I respect the choices she made - the only problem is as soon as she got involved with him, that firey, spicey character just left - that’s when I got bored. The people I really got along with was Sheila, Ricco and Morris - because he listened to all my crap - but when she got involved with TK I got very bored.

Tashi: When TK swapped votes and took himself out of being up for eviction - how could you have said he’s a coward when you’d have done the exact same thing?
Uti: I wouldn’t have, trust me. Why would you want to save yourself and keep going and going to the next round without knowing if Africa likes you? You punish yourself and take yourself to the finals and then someone else wins. If I was nominated I would not change myself so I knew if Africa really liked me.

Tashi: Talking about cowardly and copping out - when you nominated people the reason you often gave was because you didn’t think they’d be voted - that was a copout and waste of votes. Do you agree?
Uti: No - it’s just trying not to mess with fate is how I like to look at it. I didn’t want to take out anything personal on anybody - I just wanted to be diplomatic.

Tashi: If you’d stayed this week - who’d you have nominated and why?
Uti: Probably Mimi and Hazel probably because I’d have loved for them to know how it feels like to be nominated. I don’t know if I would have been compelled to nominate TK because I started seeing a better side of him last week so I might not have, but Mimi for sure and Hazel.

Tashi: Mimi out of revenge for nominating you?
Uti: No not really because I wouldn’t have found out. I just didn’t think she’d have nominated me, I thought she had my back - it would be like finding out that Ricco or Sheila or Morris nominated me, I’d have been really sad.

Tashi: Who besides Morris, Sheila and Ricco will you stay in touch with after the show?
Uti: I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay in touch with any of the other people - if it’s convenient for me I will, but I would only go out of my for Sheila, Ricco and Morris.

Tashi: What was the most difficult thing?
Uti: Having to work with people and having to accept the fact that some people can do some things better than you. I’m used to being the best at things back home - even if not the best, I’m used to standing out at doing things.

Then you have the challenges of learning new things you’ve never done before and people are learning them faster than you or doing them better than you - it was horrible because I’m very competitive.

Seeing the same people over and over and over again and trying to stomach all their imperfections - it was tough. Then the boring days, with nothing to do, nowhere to go, how to keep sane, it was tough.

Tashi: Will you be watching the show now?
Uti: Mixed feelings - sometimes I look at it and want to know what’s happening and sometimes I just feel weird.

Tashi: Who would you like to see win?
Uti: I’d like to see either Ricco or Sheila or Morris win. My predictions - in order of most favourite - I think Africa might vote Ricco the winner, if not Ricco, Sheila - if not Sheila, then Morris.

Tashi: I hope not.
Uti: Why?

Tashi: I think Ricco’s a total punk.
Uti: Why - because of what he did with Latoya?

Tashi: No, it’s like everything - his laugh and that blue gown he wears.
Uti: No African country voted for him the twice that he’s been nominated so I guess he’s doing something right.

Tashi: Or alternatively the other two were just the worse of the three evils.
Uti: Ow!

Tashi: What question haven’t we asked that you think we should?
Uti: I don’t know ... probably my way forward after the show.

uti_4

Tashi: Yes you want to go to Hollywood.
Uti: Yeah I do.

Tashi: What do you want to do there? What roles do you want to get? Do you want to play Nigerians?
Uti: Well I just want to be the triple-threat. I want to be on the runways, movies, I want to music, do whatever I can - make money from what I enjoy.

Tashi: What are you gonna do to do that?
Uti: Hopefully I stay around long enough for people to spot me - I’m hoping the people from M-Net, the people who do Jacob’s Cross "hint, hint" a big show on M-Net.

Tashi: Okay so Step 1’s a role on Jacob’s Cross. You were very adamant about winning the money - what would you have done with it if you’d won?
Uti: Definitely Id stick it in an apartment, I know it’s a cliché to say I’d invest but I’d have put it into stocks and bonds and then give back to people - family and then other people who need it. I know it’s cliché but it’s the truth.

Tashi: Thami said he’ll blow it if he wins - what’s your take on that?
Uti: That’s just plain stupidity - when you’re out there how dare you blow 100 000 dollars - what if you never have the chance to make that kind of money again. It’s like having the magic seed and a magic tree grows out of it and then squashing it. Probably he’s just being Thami and joking.

WOMEN ABUSE - THE BASIC FACTS

WHAT IS ABUSE?

Abuse is any form of behaviour that controls another person, causes physical harm or fear, makes someone do things they do want to do, or prevents them from doing things they want to do. Abuse can be verbal, emotional, physical, sexual, material or financial. Abused women usually experience multiple forms of abuse.

FORMS OF ABUSE

Physical abuse includes:

slapping, punching, hitting, kicking, shoving, scratching, biting, throwing things at you.

threatening or attacking you

locking you in or out of the house or abandoning you in a dangerous place

refusing to help you when you are injured, sick or pregnant

Sexual abuse includes:

making you wear clothes or do sexual things that make you uncomfortable

pressuring or forcing you to perform sexual acts that you do not want to do

forcing you to have sex when you do not want to; raping you or threatening to rape you

forcing you to have sex with other people

Emotional abuse includes:

insulting you

making you feel stupid or worthless

ridiculing your beliefs

humiliating you in public or private

ignoring you

intimidating or harassing you

being overly jealous or possessive

accusing you of infidelity without good reason

isolating you from your family and friends

preventing you from going to work or school

attacking your children or your pets

threatening to kill you or to leave you or throw you out

threatening to kill himself or go mad if you leave or don’t do what he wants

MYTH: ONLY PHYSICAL ABUSE MATTERS

Implications:

denies the impact of other forms of abuse
Facts:

emotional, sexual and financial abuse are also very damaging
many women report that damage to their self-esteem takes longer to heal than their physical injuries

The positives? Well, maybe I shouldn't have said "positive things he said" but rather "positive things about him " apart from his "imperfections" comments, he was really a fun person and he entertained the housemates and us alike and that's why it's gotten quieter since he left.

<<<I respect the choices she made - the only problem is as soon as she got involved with him, that firey, spicey character just left - that’s when I got bored>>> True and that's what Mimi and some of you addicts said about Sheila too....

Girls should know guys take them home for one thing, sex - most times guys think girls know these things, then they take them home and maybe the girl leads him on and then decides that she wants to go out - it’s not an excuse once again - but then again, most dudes don’t have self control and push themselves on women.

WOMEN ABUSE - THE BASIC FACTS

WHAT IS ABUSE?

Abuse is any form of behaviour that controls another person, causes physical harm or fear, makes someone do things they do want to do, or prevents them from doing things they want to do. Abuse can be verbal, emotional, physical, sexual, material or financial. Abused women usually experience multiple forms of abuse.

FORMS OF ABUSE

Physical abuse includes:

slapping, punching, hitting, kicking, shoving, scratching, biting, throwing things at you.

threatening or attacking you

locking you in or out of the house or abandoning you in a dangerous place

refusing to help you when you are injured, sick or pregnant

Sexual abuse includes:

making you wear clothes or do sexual things that make you uncomfortable

pressuring or forcing you to perform sexual acts that you do not want to do

forcing you to have sex when you do not want to; raping you or threatening to rape you

forcing you to have sex with other people

Emotional abuse includes:

insulting you

making you feel stupid or worthless

ridiculing your beliefs

humiliating you in public or private

ignoring you

intimidating or harassing you

being overly jealous or possessive

accusing you of infidelity without good reason

isolating you from your family and friends

preventing you from going to work or school

attacking your children or your pets

threatening to kill you or to leave you or throw you out

threatening to kill himself or go mad if you leave or don’t do what he wants

MYTH: ONLY PHYSICAL ABUSE MATTERS

Implications:

denies the impact of other forms of abuse
Facts:

emotional, sexual and financial abuse are also very damaging
many women report that damage to their self-esteem takes longer to heal than their physical injuries

<<<How do you look past such hurtful and uneducated comments, Shugs, HOW!!!!????>>> Coz getting worked up is not gonna change the way he is??!!

<<<<Seeing the same people over and over and over again and trying to stomach all their imperfections - it was tough>>> Okay, this is the part where I agree with y'all . He says this like he's perfect....

<<<Tashi: Or alternatively the other two were just the worse of the three evils.

LOL@ Segololo for researching about abuse..
I dont care what he said or did, i still miss him in the house

Toxic

I think it was that all child molesters and rapists should be killed - that they deserve the death sentence because I don’t feel for rapists or molesters.

Funny how everyone chose to ignore this!

Sure, NO ONE throws themselves in a rape situation. The other stuff he said i quite understand. If u're on a blind date, dressed provocativley and FOLLOW a man YOU do not KNOW home, do you not expect that the man will want to have sex with you? Note i said SEX not RAPE!

Girls should know [most] guys take them home for one thing, sex - most times guys think girls know these things,

If you stop being emotional, you'll see that this is the truth.

then they take them home and maybe the girl leads him on and then decides that she wants to go out - it’s not an excuse once again - but then again, most dudes don’t have self control and push themselves on women.

That's the part i'm uncomfortable with. Girls don't lead men on. They respond to a man's lead and do have the right to change their mind.

Most chicks have to learn to take preventative measures: do not follow strangers home, do not hitchhike, do not get fresh with people you don’t know - these are the measures you have to take.

Solid advice right there! Ladies, you cannot afford to be naive where your SAFETY is concerned. Desperation is not a good reason to place your life at risk.

<<Violence would be attacking someone and I didn’t exactly attack someone - in fact I did not attack anyone. I was just letting off some steam and I let it off on inanimate objects.>>>

As Sego has mentioned in her reply, violence come in all forms. And the effects of emotional abuse, which is exactly that what he did to Mimi, are just as severe. It has been well documented by several researchers. He let off steam at the expense of another human being… surely, there are other ways to let off steam.

As for Uti’s take on date rape… I can remember that night vividly. My reactions, as well as Cnga’s, are on the update article of that night.

However, I had been thinking about that for sometime now and I came to the conclusion, as much as I did not want younger men who might perceive Uti (as well as the other in that house cause Munya and Ricco also participated in that debate) as a role model to be exposed to his views, which he is preaching as the gospel, it is good that we got to hear it. Sadly, many men, if not the majority, are sharing his views on rape, violence and women.

Millions of U$ and Euros are being pumped into awareness education, the glossy pamphlets and posters are testimonial of it all. Now we (and I am saying we, cause I am an activist myself) have to ask ourselves if we are really successful in achieving our goals with these awareness campaigns. Maybe we need to review our way of doing things because obviously we are not reaching the persons that we are suppose to reach. We certainly did not reach the Utis, Munyas, Riccos and several other African men.

It is time to rethink our strategies.

And BB can still turn it around for us. As much as I am of the opinion that BBA did not do much for social change as to date(and yes I am referring to the controversial Offu and Richard saga), I am positive that all is not lost.

BB needs to show us that he does not support their views. And that he is not using them as mouth pieces to spread BB’s controversial views about violence and women. The only thing he can do, is to turn it around.

Educate them on Violence and Women. All types of violence. Rape, emotional abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence in all its forms, trafficking of women,… every type of violence against women that is out there.

I am convinced that BB has no choice to educate not only the HMs but also the fans of the house mates because some of them are such fanatics that they believe and justify every word that these HMs utter.

He sure was an entertainer in the house but he is just too big-headed for my liking......
"He's a spoilt brat who is used to getting things her way and is a popular one in his town...gaaa he can't get used to people not sucking up to him.... "
I agree with you Fluffy-head......he is still a child that needs to learn to be humble and not think he is better than other people.

I just think you guys are biased. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Have you guys not seen the film called Accused? It was exactly what Uti was saying. Why all these attacks...that is why they call Nigers the happiest people in Africa. I read some of the text messages written on the threads and tv and it makes me wonder if there should be a BBA4. These housemates has families. I liked UTI becos he was himself; you either like or hate him. What about your so called Richard that lied to the whole of africa, his wife, mistress(Tati) etc and some of you guys were all for it.

As he said more than once...there is a thin line between been confident and been arrogant. That boy will go places because he believes in himself and he has faith.
Take  care everyone and don't forget that it is not easy to be filmed 24/7. Most of you that are judgemental will not like what we see it was you on tv and you are been real. God bless.
