HBO's new vampire thriller True Blood premiered in the US last month, I've seen the opening episodes and trust me when I tell - it's to
die for!
They're currently on Episode 7 and it's so superbo the show got renewed for a second season after Episode 2. I've bitten to see who's got it for us and M-Net's confirmed they have it - it's either going to be on M-Net or M-Net Action next year.
Set in a small backwater town, the action centres around Sookie - played by Anna Paquin, who won the 1994 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her child-role in The Piano.
Sookie works as a waitress at the local bar/diner and she's got a telepathic ability she doesn't want - she can hear people's thoughts and it almost drives her out of mind.
One night a vampire walks into the bar and she can't hear his thoughts - the first time ever that she can't. It attracts her to him immediately and shortly after his arrival someone dies gruesomely, then another ... and so begins the thrillage of a serial killer whodunnit.
The setting, the acting, the characters, it's all sizzzzling - its stuffed with yho! observations on religion, sex, drugs, prejudice, trust, fear, friendship - you name it, it's got it. It's edge of your seat, has lots of very funny moments
and it's got the best opening title sequence of any show ever.
It's impossible to explain - the only way is for you to sink your teeth into it by seeing it ... here's a must-see trailer followed by the opening sequence:
PS: I wanna do BAD things with
you.
Had to say it - it's so ultimate in cool I can't cope!
