How Many Minutes?

Summer loving happends so fast,so you think your man cant hold his horses till the finishing line?well at least he can last for 3minutes.you shud be grateful compared to some telephone networks  and cellphone networks in this Country!Petrol is even cheaper than calling......Beleave me ladies,we share the same disappointments.

Just the other day i phoned a friend,to say "hey happy new year, you have made it".....R9.oo gone!!! the call lasted 38seconds not even a minute...this is unacceptable...just now i wanted to call TDC and Mjj maar again i thot of the costs...so guys i will talk to you after 8pm tonight...ooops sorry make that after Genrubish! Also even wen calling off-peak you hardly notice the difference...My point is Calling in South Africa has become an Agony,or shud i just say a pain in the butt? Then you still find people sending you call backs in the afternoon, only to find out that its a wrong number!

Some countries making voice calls they charge you next to nothing, like the U.S.A..making calls localy in the U.S is free!!!!then again its a good thing coz if they have to do it here,Blacks wud abuse the Networks...you know us Blacks and free things!LMAO.

I will be Specific..VODACOM and VIRGIN mobile..yet everywhere you go they tell you about being cheap..bill bords everywhere!..Yerrrrrrrrrrrrrr these two networks are disappointing..i mean i use both maar gees they are so expensive wen making calls...dont know wat happened to 90% off, they alway talk about.

Again wen purchasing Data Bundles, you wud spend nore than R25.oo for 20MB,of which they will last not more than 45minutes

Whats really going on here?Sombody have to look at this. Our money is going slowly for Intoni?Emagine if we could pay R0.o3 per minute?Tjo it will be like findin a bottle of cold waterin a desert.....Orgasmic Sex i say!

They should, but we all know they wont.

Why do you need a prescription to buy Viagra?
Just to be sure you wont have bad reactions to it.

When is Mugabe living the office...we are tired now?
When he dies

Is it true that there was some Xenophobic attacks recorded during december in Durban?
Didn't hear about it.

Does your man make you sing Summer Loving happend so Fast?

I heard on the news about it........

The calls have become very expensive, even during off-peaks. We are gettin gripped off la, even when MTN says it's 70% off.....

still find people sending you call backs
Sometimes i wish bangenza o-call back babe yimali!! There are people who send these for the fun of it. When you call the person back, thinking they might actually want to tell you something serious, the only thing abazoyisho is: "I was just chacking up"........... Damn, this irritates the c*ap outta me........

For me Voda what what is the most expensive of them all, just like ABAS bank when it comes to fees...they v got head office, admin, withdrawal and transaction fees, just to name a few....what the F are all this for?

Again wen purchasing Data Bundles, you wud spend nore than R25.oo for 20MB,of which they will last not more than 45minutes. Farai, this is not time based, it is not helkom afterall. it means the amount of data you download or use within that 45min is 20MB, but again a couple of people with data contracts are crying their lungs out:(

Taxi fares should go down as well but on TV the other day they had a guy from one of the taxi associaions and he said they will not bring the fares down, they'll use the money for servicing and maintenance. Isn't servicing part of maintenance kanti? He forgot to mention greed and the fact that they are doing it cause they can. I wonder if they are sponsoring the ANC or some politicians...

Renegade
14 Jan 2009 12:04

I'm also on a cell c Contract. And as far as I know, the weekend thing works like this.
Prepaid: You have to recharge with R5(or as Belz says R10, i'm not sure) during the week and you get up to 100 free minutes on Sat, and another 100 on Sunday.

Contract: Provided that your contract free minutes are finished, you also have the same free minutes. But first you must finish your normal free minutes.

THose that are complaing about bank charges, guys, use FNB R66 option, that's if you do electronic transactions mainly, which i'm sure you all do. It really is the best as far as I'm concerned.

I think Absa charges more because of the services that they are offering their customers, remember you pay for the service not product.

If you wanna pay less convert to Capitec Bank and see where you're gonna withdraw money after hours?

Come to think of it Astor Cash & Carry, Shoprite and Woolworths are selling same products from one supplier but prices differ because of the service.

belz
14 Jan 2009 12:12

I think Absa charges more because of the services that they are offering>>> FNB gives me all the services that i need, and they are reasonable.

Astor Cash & Carry, Shoprite and Woolworths are selling same products from one supplier but prices differ because of the service.>>> No they are not, Shoprite sells their brand and so does woolworths. you can get different service from different woolworths' same with other shops.

felfel
14 Jan 2009 12:20

Belz, shoprite and Woolies do sell the same products at different prices, with Woolies being more ofcoz, but they also sell House brands. There are recommended prices for those products but they change for their own reasons.

I've been with Nedbank for 10 years now and i have no idea what their bank charges are.

realist

No, they are milking the consumer for what it is worth. No services rendered, just milking the consumer. To get free services from them you got to have 10K in your account. Who in their right mind will have 10K in a transactional account? Jump ship and move over to FNB. Only 66bucks a month as long as you do electronic banking. ABAS charge you 100 bucks for a minimum of 15 electronic transactions (I might be wrong but that I was told by one of their consultants).

Toodecent

I recommed Capitec Bank  hi hi hi hi. No bank charges well they are less good for saving too. I use ABSA and on the big banks and its the best believe me. I think their charges are less than what other banks do... A friend was using FNB and he would be having around 300 bucks inside but cant get it out.He moved to Standard bank and same *bleep!* happens mara with absa I can get broke as i ca that only 40 bucks can be left and I would milk out my last cash.

Cody
14 Jan 2009 12:27

Im going to check out the FNB R66. i am up to HERE with Absa!

LM
14 Jan 2009 12:27

I think Absa charges more because of the services that they are offering: And what service do you get when you withdraw money from the ATM?  isn't this the same service you get at other banks? what is an admin and head office charge for when yu are still expected to pay a monthly "set" fee which sometimes does not even cover some of the debit orders.

Capitec is still a small fish, it offers very basic transactions, which most of us only use in these big fish banks and we are paying an arm and a leg for them. Once Capitec offers internet banking, I'm out.

If you wanna pay less convert to Capitec Bank and see where you're gonna withdraw money after hours? from All the other banks' ATMs, that's what saswitch fees are for, again this won't be a daily thing.

NtandoN
14 Jan 2009 13:15

Absa is an international bank which justifies their costing, Capitec is a micro-lender. Once it reaches Absa's level their bank fees will be the same.

It has more ATM's than any other bank in SA and that cost money, I'm with Absa and pay about R13,50 monthly, the trick is to find a loophole in the system and use it. You can even do Islamic banking.

With Woolworths I get the same service everywhere I go if I don't get it I lodge a complain because I'm paying for the service, with Shoprite the cashier doesn't even greet nor pack your grocery and it's fine as I'm not paying that much.

Remember all these institutions are govern by the same body and there's also Competition Act against irregular pricing.

Could not have said it better myself. I was looking to buy a car, first I went to ABAS and they said I could not afford to repay the loan and so they declined, went to Nedbank and they gave me the run around until I reported the idiot who was handling my application. They took their time and eventually moved to FNB and there they did an affordability assessment and they declined my application. Mind you all this I did it by going direct to these banks.

I decided to try my luck with Standard bank; it took them only half a day to approve my loan without even doing an assessment. So JA I agree with you Bigmama standard bank is more efficient of the lot. To reward them I have opened a 32 days notice with them.

Its funny how u can go to a Woolies in an area where the majority shoppers are black and you find that Woolies operates like a Shoprite (service too) yet the ones in white areas are of high standard in terms of service.
In cape Town the Woolies in Tokai and Constantia are just worse. My brother worked there for only a month and just switched off his fone and stopped going to work cos the white shoppers were giving them hell. Apparently they feel entitled to demand whatever they want whether in their right or not.
When i first went to the Woolies in central Pta i thought i was inside shoprite or Discom and i was already used to that superiority of W.

Most of you are complaining about bank charges because you have chosen the wrong product. A cheque account has more charges than savings account, if you know that you can't afford bank charges go for the money builder account.

Credit card charges 25% on all transactions so don't go on a date and pay using a budget facility. Only use it necessary.

It's all about the status, I have seen people who are earning less than me bragging about having gold cheque account/ credit card.

I was paying my bond R4000 on a loan that requires that I pay R1800. When I finished my bond the Idiots at the other banks were lazy to do credit checks and that is why they decided to decline my loan.

The reason Standard bank gave me the loan was because they work smarter and not harder. You know why? They did the credit checks first before they could do the assessment. Based on their findings it was not necessary for them to do it with me. All these credit checks that banks are doing are to comply with the law and it does not mean that they are justified.

J-Girl: it's against NCA to grant loan to somebody who can't afford it, some bank clients have gone to the ombudsman with proof that loans were approved whereas they did not qualify. Ombudsman then instructed the bank to write off the loans as a bad debt.

Credit check forms part of assessment and are not 100% accurate as some credit granters do not remove your name even after you have paid the debt. I have worked as a Credit Analyst for different banks and this is always the case.

You can pay R4000 on the loan that requires R1800 but if your portfolio is not balanced then you're not credit worthy, if your Edgars account is behind it affects your scoring.

why does the ATM works 24 hours?
Hau Farai, have you never been out at night and run out of cash? It used to happen a lot to us at varsity when we'd spend all our cash, and have no money for a cab back to res, so ATM's to the rescue.

who is paying for these ATM machines to work 24hours? once again us!we are being reaped off right under our nose...and its funny coz no-one complains about this...we shud have people who represent us on these things! Unfortunately we have no one Farai, the competition commissioner released the much awaited report on banking fees and that's it. Even though banks were found not be able to justify all the money they milk us, no one is gonna do anything about it. A full report with info that the banks requested the CC not to release to the public was leaked on some website, forgot the name, the whole thing was being discussed on news24 last week.

You don't have to have cards from different stores to build credit history. Who would you trust between a person with accounts everywhere and the one who has no accounts, no credit history, nothing. Credit analysts would mostly favour the one with no history.

Also going from one bank to another after loan disapproval lowers your credit rating.

I have personally opened several businesses and tried to beat the competitors by lowering the price but it has never worked.

If something is cheaper consumers question the quality, eg: KFC vs Hungry Lion, Butterfield Bread vs Bread Basket.

LM

maybe these MOTHER FCUKERS just need some serious competition!........thats all it is hey? you can try but it aint easy joe, you still need their resources (paying/debiting system blah bla blah) to run ur smallanyana bank just like Capitec is relying on the big 4's. Apparently their transactions/debits/credits get processed first and if /when there is  capacity left in the system then the small fry's transactions gets processed and cleared:(...

Withdrawing your monety before debit orders go through is so not good.rd's on your bank account affects your scooring, come the time you want to buy a car or a house this will then affect you.you might not be listed but your payment profile is very much important!!!it affects your credit record, paying accounts late, skipping some months and that affect your pp big time

so if you are doing that, you better stop.I fail to understand gore why is Jan a tough month,we undergo the same ish every year, haven't we learned already?we can mos do our bidgett to meet our Jan needs!

Ntando , no you are a high risk if you do not have history. but you dont necessarily need credit. a cheque account history is good enough.

I wont speak for my bank as their fees are high, try Investec though, you can draw at any big 4 ATMs at no extra charge. It you belong to the others you have to draw at their specific ATM's and if it is not working and you draw at a competitors, they charge you a min or R6.

I think it's time to swallow my pride and follow King L and open an account with FNB. I am with STD bank, they charge R80 for cheque account, R5 insurance for overdraft. I tried to stop if for four times with no success.

They have a string of bank charges, I added them the other day and they were above R100. with no incontact. Really I have to jump ships.

No Ntando,it does not work that way.I sell cars for a living and trust me if you come to my delaership earning whatever good salary you eran but with zero credit record, the bank will most definately decline you.You are high risk, how can they trust with a loan of R100 000 if they can acess how you manage a Truworths account of R2000 CREDIT LIMIT?yOU DIGG,you dont have to have accounts all over because that on the other hand affects your affordability and equity status.Just manage your accounts respnsible and pay on time, dont wait for the 7TH cause then you will be catagorised as a slow payer and that is not good on your credit scoring.

Ntando: I see we are not done talking just yet. As you can see from the other replies and especially the one from Lady D. Pre this new credit act it was a prerequisite to have a credit history ant that is why I had one an Edgars account. Even now it is still a prerequisite at some of lending institutions.

realist: Not anymore but it also on the knowledge & experience of the Credit Analyst, I have been involved in credit assessments of vehicle finance, personal loans, home loans & lastly corporate applications.

The credit record is an old rule which doesn't apply anymore at least in my department. One of the old rules also was that a person with a landline would get more points that a person without it.

Most people who works for banks think like bankers not business men, when doing business I still prefer someone who doesn't have a credit record than the one who does. Research has proven that most fraud syndicate would create a credit record so banks can give them more money and then disappear.

realist
15 Jan 2009 09:04

Ntando: In that case it makes perfect sense. Problem though is that most consultants especially here in RSA they work according to the book and they cannot use their lateral thinking. Probably that was the reason why my loan was declined by those three banks. For interest sake, would you have granted me loan if I have provided you with the facts mentioned earlier?

NtandoN
15 Jan 2009 09:19

Yes I would have. I have fought with my superiors before and was even worked out of company because I was questioning their credit policies.

A white, indian, coloured person stands a better chance of being approved for finance than a black person with the same qualities yet they talk about banking the un-banked.

If they want a credit history create one let them grant you loan beyond your means, apply for debt counselling, go to ombudsman and sue them.
