Episode 5: Break-ups & Hookups

Tonight we see Zimele driving away from the clinic door, he probably got cold feet about doing an HIV test.
He had lunch with his friend and his friend tells him that he is too strong to get HIV so he can sleep with any "beatiful" woman without protection, HOW IGNORANT!!!
He goes back to his wife and tells her that if she is soo convinced that she got HIV from him then why must he test ?? his wife shows him the importance of an HIV test tells him about counselling, living healthy, taking care of yourself thereafter.

We see Lebza disclosing her status to her friend and getting some support from her friend.

We see Lulu walking to town to look for a job but she finds nothing from the more than 20 places, shame she cant even buy Zakes a bday presents.

Zakes is soo in love bathong, he reminds me of my high school true love, he had his bday and Bulela's mother suggested that Bulela gets him a packet of condoms and anything worth less than R25 in the shop..he got him a "fake" axe spray

the same night we saw the 2 mathematicians hooking up and discussing studying @ the university of London.

uDineo has gotten her scholarship and we wait to see what happens to Bulela's scholarship.

aaaww sweet this reminds me of my 5 high school years, how much i used to love with no fears.How much being in a relationship was fun and how much i used to be loved.
my last valentine's present was 2003 when i was in matric, those were the days.

Obviously Lulu is not happy about this 2's relationship. She cant have her friend and her EX/sugar daddy's son dating..she tries talking to Zakes & Zimele to object the relationship, but poor Zakes is soo convinced that there is nothing that she needs to worry abou since her & Zimele have "broken up"

New young love, WOW it takes me bag from those days of love that are gone

The two lovebirds/mathematicians are both virgins and decides to not rush into things, they both in Matric but they both wanna wait for the right time,which is something very rare these days.

Like Tefo's wife said that "Men think with their penises" we see Zimele trying to break it off with Lulu but as soon as he makes moves on him he forgets all about his family that he wants to change for and melts.He even lets uLulu take grocery from the shop.but late that evening he pushes her away and reminds her that he is a married man and he has to take care of his pregnat wife and that Lulu can find a man to take care of her.

Im soo loving this soul city cast and the story line and after every episode i look foward to the next...
Well dont to the producers and the crew/cast.
Its soo different from the previous seasons and it makes paying TV license worthwhile.
Well dont 4 SHO for a TRUE GREAT Mzantsi story telling, BIG UPS TO YOU!!

How did you see tonight's episode and what do you think will happen??

After this it was one of my fav reality TV show, cheaters..yeah its back on a different day but same time slot. ETV, 21:00 on mondays..

Oh my goodness, the akwardness of those two kids...it was unbearable to watch!!!!
I mean seriously! I think the problem though was that Soul City seemed to be in too much of a hurry to show us a "sex" scene. I mean, first the mother gives the child condoms(mind you, the child at that point has no girlfriend), then it's the party, and all of a sudden they are in the bedroom...hai man, too much too soon, that's what made for the akwardness!

Other than that, thanks for the recap Cande, great read.

Oh The Geniuses!!!! I also miss my high school boyfreind during this scene & i just LOL. But i stil feel sori for Lulu, really. Gogo is coming back home & she needs some1 that will look after her & ngapha uLulu is the broke breadwinner.

Lets hope she will find a replacement soon coz she is too beautiful 2 become a professional hooker.

it also made me laugh wen lulu was busy picking up the groceries... i think Zimele is acting differently from most guys would cos most ppl if they find out their status they either spread it more saying they dont want to die alone....
did Zimele nd lulu use protection the time they had sex??

No Cande,for me, they could have developed the relationship for two episodes atleast, and then done the bed scene next, because we all know these kids rush, but to try and show that in 30 mins was a bit too much! It was just rushed, and it showed because it was far too akward! I dont' know if you know what I mean, the point is that they have about 3 scenes for those kids in the episode, and in all of this they want to capture the meeting, courting, and the sexual scene...come on! Bona they really just wanted to get to the sex part which really was just unrealistic.

hehehhe Rene they only have 3 months to show this kids hooking up/making mistakes/learning from them and moving on so they cant wait for Episode 8 to show that, time is not on their side

I feel sorry 4 Lulu shame but that is not an excuse for her to sell her body so that she can put the food on the table. When i c Lulu I c myself but being a breadwinner, a mother and the varsity student neva made me sleep with men for money BUT made me work very hard. I worked 3 partime jobs and was a fulltime student, I suported my family financially and got emotional suport in return, from my family WE are doin GR8. If any1 is in the same situation as Lulu PLEASE dont intertain wat she s doin coz she gets a salary for doin that n u will jst luz ur value.

anywho, I love this soul city... and that billboard Lulu was walking under just before it finished, shem! loved loved loved it!

I am very very very very very very very very disturbed by Zakes golide (Gold) teeth... hai noh *sigh* I mean, his gal is starving and begging married men for food to support her family and he has a minefield of gold in his mouth... nee maaan! now, THAT kissing scene was uncomy for me.

but guys, the sister, Koki, how old is she exactly? She wanted to stay longer at the party and the sister was sleeping over just like that and then when Lulu pitches in the morning Koki is busy with an empty jam jar asking Lulu to get food from Zimele... *shaking head*

Cande: They have 3 months, grranted, it's episode 5 now, why couldnt they have started the relationship in ep 2 or 3 ke? It's like they had a theme they wanted to show in just ONE episode, and that just did not work, that's all i'm saying.

Guys Love the part of Bulela and Dineo it reminds me of when we youth were still good and not rushing into things and used to love a person for who they are not what they have or sex. We teenagers can never wait for the right time for sex. We just let nature take its part without looking at the Consequences of our own actions and end up blaming ourselfs later in life.

Zimele is right though. Lulu is too pretty to be single. there are plenty of men out there that would want to take care of her and tap that ass. i think soul city is trying to show the thin line between prostitution and what Lulu is doing.

i LOLd when Zakes told Lulu not to worry abt the two love birds cause all they discuss is education and it turned out to be true!

didn't feel any awkwardness at the cosy scene between the two though.
