TheTVObserver: Sex And The City Sequel

Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema are set to bring Carrie Bradshaw and friends back in the big screen when the sequel to box office hit 'Sex and the City' hits theaters in summer 2010.

I have always enjoyed Sex In The City the series and the movie was fun to watch. When I heard that the girls are back and after reading a couple of articles on the subject. I thought I should wait until the announcement is more formal before featuring it on TheTVObserver's Movie Report.

So readers… here are the facts about the sequel.

#1
"Sex and the City 2" has locked down a U.S. theatrical release date. With Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon signing up for the project, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema set the sequel to 2008 dramedy "Sex and the City" in the May 28, 2010 slot.

#2
It was quite interesting for me to know that the same date selected for the sequel debut on the big screen is also the same same date the HBO series "Sex and the City" opened in 2008.

#3
The weekend of May 28-30 is listed to be in competition with Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton-starring action fantasy "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time". Well I think Sex And The City may just blow the competition out of the water…depending on the plot of course….

#4
All the four girls have agreed to reprise their roles in the sequel and director/writer Michael Patrick King will take the responsibility behind the camera.

#5
It has been reported that the film's star Sarah Jessica Parker has dished out the possibility of Carrie dealing with motherhood in the sequel. The actress said at the time, "Motherhood] doesn't seem as if that's going to be a choice she'll make. It feels a little bit manipulative to toss that into the mix because she seems so pointed in a different direction." Whatever…drama, drama,.drama, sex, sex, sex and more insecurity…then we will love you forever…not to forget Fashion, Style and flawed men…ouch!

#6
Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed to have made a deal with New Line Cinema for "Sex and the City 2" and she opened up TO Billy Bush of "The Billy Bush Show"about how she thinks the sequel will be like. “I think we want this one to be a romp." She said. "The last one, we got to tell a really mature sophisticated story that had real heartbreak in it and this time, I think we want a romp," Parker added further. "We want our audience to have a massive romp."

#7
Despite being so open about the sequel, the four-time Golden Globes-recipient refused to give hint on what could possibly happen between Carrie and Big, the latter is portrayed by Chris Noth. "In a million years I'm not going to give you an indication," she insisted, adding, "I want someone to show up that first weekend."

and finally

#8
The confirmation came when New Line Cinema spokeswoman Candice McDonough announced that the four main actresses of the romantic comedy movie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon, have agreed to return for a follow-up film and writer-director Michael Patrick King has also signed a contract to pen the script for the sequel.

I can't wait and it may just be good? We will see…
