And i must say that everytime i heard the opposition (epsecially DA, COPE and ID) critisizing ANC...it was always followed by what they will do diffrently..
that is if who ever is reporting ddnt cut that part off like people kept sensationalising the JZ shower issue as if it was the only thing that he said during the trial....

during the USA presidential debates...they went agaisnt each other for their policies and the things they did that contradicted human rights...about the economic policies..the wars..etc etc...and i thot it was cool bcos it exposes the person/party 's potential when they come to power......

pple have been hating on the opposition for saying stop zuma..they ddnt even stand to hear why...and what the opposition was promisisng to offer...

Green Arrow makes some great points.

What we need to understand now, especially with the drop from 2004 and loss of the Western Cape, is that the ruling party government has to deliver on its promises much more this time around.

The historical vote is starting to wear thin, i.e. we are slowly moving into a position where our voters are being born in the new South Africa.  Coupled with this is the fact that the poor themselves cannot go on forever with the historical vote... they need delivery and services and education in their communities.

The DA are going to go all out to make sure the WC is the best ever, as an example in showing up the ANC "failures" which made them lose the province.

Zuma as well knows that he has a lot to prove to us all.. another great advantage to South Africa.  He will want to reverse the wrongs of the Mbeki administration.

Our democracy is evolving, the ANC is realising that their reputation can only go that far, we ALL are on the verge of a better life.

@green.arrow

i always say bloggers ga ba itse ba batlang (they don't know what they want).

not so long ago they were saying that at the rate the ruling party is going they seriously need competition and COPE came forth and people still complained.

i always maintained that the only competition to the ANC is the ANC itself, and that shows by the way COPE has done in the elections, i know it's not major but under the circumstances they've done well for a new party and the ANC did well smearing cope members, intimidating them and calling them names (at one time they were even called cockroaches, wizard and witches which i didn't hear some of you complaining but when Zuma is called mshowerlozi u cry foul.

i'm for healthy debate and i also believe in fairness when we debate issues, but the response by some of you bloggers left me flabbergasted, and i wonder if we will be able to debate issues in the future without being personal.

realist
24 Apr 2009 14:53

@Maddie: When somebody write a blog discussing people or so called celebrity, look at the responses they give and it will give you an idea of who you should debate with without expecting any insults from them. Trust me you will not find them in the majority the mature ones, they are there but not in the majority.

Anyway I have enjoyed your responses and your help your head high without stooping to their level.

i always say bloggers ga ba itse ba batlang (they don't know what they want).

not so long ago they were saying that at the rate the ruling party is going they seriously need competition and COPE came forth and people still complained.

i always maintained that the only competition to the ANC is the ANC itself, and that shows by the way COPE has done in the elections, i know it's not major but under the circumstances they've done well for a new party and the ANC did well smearing cope members, intimidating them and calling them names (at one time they were even called cockroaches, wizard and witches which i didn't hear some of you complaining but when Zuma is called mshowerlozi u cry foul.

i'm for healthy debate and i also believe in fairness when we debate issues, but the response by some of you bloggers left me flabbergasted, and i wonder if we will be able to debate issues in the future without being personal.

@Maddie: When somebody write a blog discussing people or so called celebrity, look at the responses they give and it will give you an idea of who you should debate with without expecting any insults from them. Trust me you will not find them in the majority the mature ones, they are there but not in the majority.

Anyway I have enjoyed your responses and your help your head high without stooping to their level.

one blogger said that the majority of South Africans go to the polls like people with a gambling problem, trying their luck and hoping that they might gain/win something even though they've lost in the past but they still continue gambling until they realize that they are not winning, but by then it's too late and they've lost everything.

and no this is not sour grapes i genuinely care for the poor and believe they deserve much better, and if the current ANC leadership provides that I'll be a happy soul

You are quiet right Maddie, they did not vote for change but for hope just like COPE promised for hope. Let’s hope their hope will bear fruit and I honestly mean that.

well i hope after al the partying has stopped,we will see work being done.i hope for those who endorsed the ANC ,that it delivers for their sake and for thesake of the poor.i wis the best to the DA,i hope they do a great job in western cape to show the rest of the country that change is not a bad thing.but if they dont deliver they would have messed up big time.at least we now know that the 2/3rd is not going to happen,so that says the sa citizen are not as optimistic as everyone would like us to believe.but for now lets see what the futureholds and lets keep the elected officials accountable and not be zombies who just aggree to things because they are said by our parties

Yeah, I also hope that what happened this year has shook ANC and made them realize ukuthi if they don't perform, come 2014, we'll give somebody else a chance.
I still believe ukuthi there is some good in the party so they have a chance now to really "heal" the movement and fulfil the promises made to the best of their ability.
