She's presented on RGB, she's written about Big Brother for City Press, she's judged on I Want To Sing Gospel and now TVSA blogger Lelo Boyana will be making her act!ng debut on SABC1's galpal drama Society.
Lelo, who's popularly known on TVSA as Brown Shuga, will play a cameo role on the new season of the show, which premieres later in the year - in
September.
Produced by Pua Pha Productions, the show premiered in 2007 as a four-part mini-series and went on to receive critical acclaim, as well as a 2007 SAFTA nomination for actress Ferry Jele, who plays Thuli.
Two new seasons have subsequently been commissioned: Season 2 and 3 - each season features 13 episodes and will be broadcast back-to-back in a 26-episode whammy.
Lelo will appear in the second season and plays herself; aka an outspoken, snoopy writer who's hot on the trail of a story. The mini-series ended with a love-or-death hostage situation unfolding .... we can't say more in case you haven't seen it yet and are watching the repeat.
The second season begins with the courtcase surrounding the hostage crisis and Lelo's a journo in the thick of the action at the courtcase, speaking to the camera, explaining what's happening and dashing after the characters involved to find out how they feel about things.
How was Lelo cast? Pua Pha producers Lodi Matsetela and Makgano Mamabolo have been following her blog Shuga's Blogiwood and when the role came up they thought she would be perfect for it.
As things currently are (the episode structure may change closer to the time) she'll be appearing in Episodes 4, 6 and 9 of Season 2.
Also in the line-up of cameo roles: Tumisho Masha (as a lover) and Bongo Maffin's Stoan.
Keep a lookout on TVSA's Premieres for the start of the show and of course we'll SO keep you scooped when Lelo's scenes come up!
If you missed the first run of the show it's currently being rebroadcast on SABC1, on Thursdays at 20h30.
