After my FANTABULOUS trip on the
Miller Rock the Boat Cruise, I couldn’t wait to get home to give everyone the low-down on the AWESOME 4 days we spent at sea. Pity I went straight to bed when I got home on Monday, because of lack of sleep on the cruise. If I’m not mistaken we slept for 7 hours in the entire 3 nights on board. Yeah, believe it. We probably would rank in the category of people who got the most sleep though. Hehehe...
So, I woke up midday on Tuesday all refreshed and ready to give the “exclusive” report, only to find out that everyone already “knew what went down”. I heard words such as DEBAUCHERY, VANDALISM and some other nasty words, this were coupled with disappointed facial expressions, which left me with one remark – ‘HAWU!’
I got digging and found the source of such despondency. It was a front page article on one of SA’s biggest daily Newspapers; here is the actual story and you can figure out what the newspaper is:

No hard feelings, but I felt this was a biased report on an event which was found by many “young people” on board to be “the best time of their lives”, as many echoed that statement - myself included. This article made me feel like I was back in school and someone blew the whistle on us the somewhat “naughty” students.
Additionally, it is written on a third person bases... So, let me do some justice and give you the summarised version, since obviously I was there... hihihihi
From the moment of arrival on board, the party started on the top deck (the pool area). With the Dj(can’t remember the name, I think it was Duvet) on the decks and Anele and Grant as the MCs. The bar was open and lunch was served. People danced up a storm and sure enough it looked like it was about to storm; we were rushed inside with an option to go to 2 clubs – Pasha or Manhattan. Pasha was closer and to our delight Milkshake was on the decks. Before we knew it, it was Dinner time...
There were two sittings for dinner first 18:30 and second at 20:45 and whichever one you chose was your dinner time for the trip. Mind you, the restaurants served 3 course meals. This is above the 5 meals we got on a daily basis.
Comedy was next on the agenda, with the likes of Loyiso Gola, Eugene Khoza, Kedibone Mulaudzi, David Kibuuka and the main act (for all 3 nights) the one and only Trevor Noah. However, my highlight was the Chinese comedian... No one seems to remember his name though...lol.
Then we partied up a storm to the tunes played by Euphonik and Fresh until the early hours of the morning. Then some people went to sleep and others didn’t. I have to brag though, the clubbing and the comedy was our daily bread... Now, that’s what I call “living the good life”
The next 2 days people came out to play and graced the pools and the Jacuzzis, whilst the party went down on the pool deck. Also lined up was a movie premiere for Invictus and later on a live performance by the Parlotones. Flash Republic, 340ml and other bands also performed.
There was a daily program of all the highlights and unfortunately Portuguese Island was not featured. There was an issue with the weather so we didn’t get to go to the island afterall, but it didn’t seem like people minded or noticed because the party just went on as normal and that’s what we did throughout the cruise. We partied like we were getting paid to do it, and boy did we release our Mojo... hehehe
So, as every story has 2 sides. This is my side of the story and I’m sticking to it. (hehehe... I know it sounds cheesy)
BTW, I never saw or heard about people bonking by the pool in full view of the “party people” or chairs being thrown into the sea... but who am I to talk, afterall every party has a couple of people who tend to go overboard (no pun intended). Hey, that even happens on land... hehehe
It was an awesome trip and I am so doing it again next year. Thanx to the organisers as well as to Miller for the towels, and the drinks coupons; HP for providing bags, hats, armbands and whatever else was given out. I just mentioned what I got. hehehe...
Till next year when we Rock that boat again.... PS: I hear some of what went down will appear on DSTV but not sure which channel...
