Motswako on Monday (11 January 2010):
Women struggles in South Africa started before the last century. Women took a lead in the fight for land after the promulgation of the land act. At the time they were not full members of the liberation movement and were deemed as associate members, yet they were able to define their role within the struggles of South African society.
Busi speaks to Baleka Mbete, President of the Progressive Woman’s Movement, who reveals what women are fighting for today after 15 years of democracy.
Also on the show Gwen Ramokgopa - the Executive Mayor of Tshwane Metropolitan - who talks tells about her involvement with the movement.
Motswako is on SABC2 on Mondays at 21h30.
