Coming up on
Motswako tonight (8 March):
Freedom has come with many perks and townships have been hit by a new craze: motorbikes.
If it’s not at the hottest spot in Soweto, Sebokeng or Mamelodi, you’ll find bikers cruising on the highways and biways of South Africa.
But we are also losing national assets to this trend. Mothers, fathers, engineers and accountants.
More and more black folk are losing their lives to the hands of aspiration - to let the wind blow through ones face at the sound of a Harley Davidson.
But the deafening sounds of the high speed engines are silently robbing our society of its gems.
Penny Lebyane gets rugged and reminiscent of a culture that is creeping in at speed.
Motswako is on SABC2 on Mondays at 21h30.
