Ask anyone and they will tell you - I don't do soccer. Or any kind of sport for that matter. Maybe it has something to do with me being a couch potato; give me an excellent movie to watch, a warm blanket (now that it's winter), a cup of hot chocolate and me, the sofa and the tv all the way. However, seeing as this is a first for all Africans, and that the vibe is just everywhere, I find myself tuning into the news to find out what's the latest...who's in who's out, what to expect...
feel it, it is here!!!
For those of you that don't know, Wednesday 9th June at 12h00 midday is Vuvu moment. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, you must take out your vuvu's (i like to say horn) and blow as loud as you can. If you're driving well, what are those hooters meant for?
I work for a bank and we've all been advised that under no circumstances will the blowing of a vuvu be allowed within common areas, ie inside and if you are outside, make sure you don't make anyone's day "unpleasant". Nna kere ba gafa makgoa a, this IS OUR TIME...!!!
Like I said, soccer has never really been my thing, however I find myself just going crazy over this whole thing. And this article is nothing about the game itself, I'll leave that to the experts.
Years back I thought they were crazy to have it in our winter time, who would want to go to a stadium when it's freezing cold and you have a warm living room to watch the game from? Silly me didn't know there were some crazy soccer fans out there who will do anything for the love of the game. Now, I'm actually glad we're having it in winter. This will be the first ever winter I will not be miserable and cold. Bring out the vodka, the big screen and let's waka waka! btw i hate this song (cos of the lead singer, who i personally feel should've been an african)but maybe it's the mood or whatever but now i'm kinda feeling it...
A dear friend of myne works for a hotel (those sons of biatches are the luckiest suckers these coming 2 months), and he's forever telling me about guests who want to know from him if he knows any South African women who can show them some fun. I'm talking mature, clear thinking business men who just want to let loose. Not loose as in on the corner of legs and punani, I mean fun as in letting loose, drinking and dancing the whole night, sight seeing with a twist...I always laughed him off when he came to me and asked if I wouldn't mind obliging (these are people with lots of money and they don't mind spending it). Now he doesn't ask me anymore and I'm the one that's constantly on his case, with tourists now flocking in. He tells me their hotel will be hosting Mexicans for the next 3 weeks only...can anyone tell me about Mexicans thleng. Only thing Mexican I know is a Mohito LOL.
I cannot wait to see these women in action:
and ofcourse, our very own
On a more serious note, we all know of the safety risks we'll all be facing during this time. Most of the police will only be distributed around areas that are filled with tourists, leaving the rest of us vulnerable. Just remember to take extra precautions ESPECIALLY WITH OUR LITTLE ONES. Parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents EVERYONE...Please please guys let's take extra special precaution with our little ones as they are the most vulnerable.
Having said that, e nako ke ya rona and I'm definately going to make the best of it. Haven't decided yet if I'll be going to 1 of 2 braai's that'll be happening ka opening match or whether I will be going to the stadium. Aah, it's so nice to be in demand waitse. I'm feeling it! What will you be doing during YOUR TIME?
PS. Don't forget I need to know all I can about them Mexicans. Crash course anyone? I hope they're not a boring bunch...
FEEL I T, IT 'S HERE
