Ok I am a huge TV fan, and I love seeing great South African TV shows. Shows that have relevance to what we as the ordinary man are going through.
But at times our writers get it so wrong, yes it is good to have a great storyline and you think it is the best you have written; mind you I too am a writer and have one or two projects that I am working on.
Last night I was watching the Second Season of Ekasi! Our Stories! (21:00 on e.tv) I was looking forward to it, having being disappointed with Season 1; I thought maybe they will have improved it this time around. The shows were advertised so well and with the all star cast, one would expect an all star product.
Last night’s Season kicked off with Neighbours, which starred ex Generations actress Palesa Mocuminyane, Mzwandile Nikane and Bongani Madondo, and some new faces. The show was about an actress Nomsa (played by Mocuminyane) that was axed from a soapie, she lost everything and had to move to her manager Menzi’s (Bongani Madondo) house in Soweto. She doesn’t get along with her neighbour KG (Mzwandile Nikane), and he is accused of the almost every sort of crime.
None to say I found the show to be the same as the previous season’s stuff, the acting was no so much on point, I was not expecting high quality stuff or but I am just expressing my view. The show did not meet my expectations.
I have high doubts about watching the coming shows, from what I saw in the e.tv teasers, it is not going to be any better.
But for curiosity’s sake I might.
