You may have noticed that there are now Oprah repeats on SABC3 on Thursday and Friday mornings from 06h00 to 07h00.
The repeats were recently introduced and are scheduled for the next two months - as part of a timeslot filler in the build-up to a new morning local lifestyle show.
While everything's still in the planning phase, TVSA has scooped that the show is definitely scheduled to happen and set to premiere in early October.
It will cater to Afrikaans speaking viewers, with some English included and has the working title of Op en Wakker (Rise and Shine). It'll run daily from 05h00 to 07h00 and replaces the long-running, dreary The World Today slot - which currently includes repeats of Special Assignment and Interface; and Sotho and Afrikaans news headlines from 05h00 to 06h00.
The daily content for the show hasn't been confirmed but a mole has revealed to us that the focus isn't on current affairs and news as is custom with morning shows but rather lifestyle, culture and magazine. The production company making it is yet again Tswelopele Productions. (Top Billing, Pasella, Top Travel, Top Dogs).
As for who'll be hosting it, the search is still on - the name most rumoured with the project: Liezel van der Westhuizen. We don't see this happening though. Despite her relationship with SABC3 as a former continuity presenter, her hosting of Idols has become her current signature and you know how possessive channels get when it comes to this sort of "let's share someone" ownership thing.
Between then and now, the current morning schedule of news and repeats continues, with Oprah on Thursdays and Fridays. The episodes being repeated are the episodes from the 17h35 timeslot the day before.
