On Monday (7th) Motswako kicks off November by starting the build-up to 16 Days of Activism which runs from 25 November to 10 December. During this time, the South African government runs a campaign to make people aware of the negative impact of violence against women and children and to act against abuse.
Tonight's show looks at various challenges facing women, children and people with disabilities. Penny talks to Minister Lulu Xingwana about the significance of her ministry (for women, children and people with disabilities), some of it's achievements and the difficulties the ministry still faces.
The show also visits Gugulethu, Khayelitsha and Gauteng to talk to ordinary South Africans who have lived through the harsh reality of domestic violence, lack of access to sanitary necessities and hears about some of the needs of people living with disabilities that our society sometimes takes for granted.
Motswako is on SABC2 on Mondays at 21h30.
