At the age of five, January ‘Jani’ Schofield became one of the youngest children ever to be diagnosed with schizophrenia.
This compelling one-hour special, ‘Born Schizophrenic: January’s Next Chapter’ joins Jani, now nine years old, and her family as they reflect on the progress she has made over the last few years, as well as the continuing challenges her illness presents.
Follow Jani as she goes to school, plays with her younger brother Bodhi and enjoys play dates with other children who also suffer from mental illnesses, as well as interacting with the various therapists and healthcare professionals who help her manage her condition.
Though Jani has come a long way and made a significant improvement, at age four Bodhi is now starting to show signs of schizophrenia, too. How will their parents deal with this new set of challenges, and how far will they go to protect their children and safeguard their future?
