This season, Kaelo Engage, the producers of the show; have partnered with Momentum to bring an exciting new feature to the programme: a mini drama series called “Making Cents with the Sitholes”. It seeks to entertain and educate viewers on basic financial literacy.
Connecting with communities
In the first episode, three amazing community stories will be showcased. In the first story the Kaelo team travels to Sebokeng with the Pink Drive truck which offers free cancer screenings for women in disadvantaged communities. With breast and cervical cancer being amongst the highest killers of women in South Africa, we focus on driving home the message of ‘Early detection saves lives’.
Secondly, the team stop by in Soweto to see how computers can help make teaching and learning more fun and engaging.
Lastly, they meet up with three amazing women whose lives have been changed through a glass-bead making project which uses recycled glass to create artistic masterpieces.
Kaelo is South Africa’s the longest running social development television show. To date 600 inspiring stories have been told with the involvement of over 100 organisations. This year, Anglo Platinum, the MTN SA Foundation, MiWay and Momentum are the main partners of the programme. Over the next 13 weeks, these proudly South African organisations will demonstrate what it truly means to be caring corporate citizens.
“Kaelo Stories of Hope is a shining example of reality television with a heart. It's a great and inspiring show and we are excited to have it back on our schedule,” says Monde Twala, Group Head: e.tv Channels Division.
“The magic of Kaelo has always been in the compelling personal stories we tell. This season we hope that these will inspire all South Africans to strengthen their efforts to driving social change in their communities” says Sarah Campbell from Kaelo Engage, the producers of the series.
