Wow. I caught the first episode of Lindsay Lohan's docu-reality show last night on Vuzu (at 20h30) and it was mindboggling.
For the first time I properly understand why Lindsay's stark raving nuts. It's because she's the only person in her world who
isn't mad!!!
In case you missed it, the show follows Lindsay 's recovery after she's been in rehab for a month and a half. She leaves rehab in Malibu and returns to New York. It's made by Oprah's network OWN so Oprah interveiwed her and popped up in between. She didn't appear much - just at the beginning mostly and then it was onto Lindsay who was on a mission to move out of her hotel and into an apartment in New York.
As her search unfolded it became clear that absolutely everyone in her world uses her. She's constantly surrounded by bundles of people and yet all of them are out to get something from her. I don't even trust that sober companion of hers - he's getting waaay too comfy and ready to move in.
Same thing what her manager. I didn't like his attitude when he had to clean out Lindsay's hotel room while she chatted to friends. He was a disployal scumbag to her when he went on about her, trying to make her look bad. If he had such a problem with her behvaiour he should have told her instead of side-eyeing her to us. But of course he wouldn't.
When she ended up getting stuck in the hotel room in the early evening my heart went out to her. The air seemed so stale as she sat there suffocated by the paparazzi outside, her manager, her weird widow sister, that mother of hers and that awful filmmaker "friend" who tricked her during the shoot with the models.
By the end of the episode I understood why she has all that stuff she drags around with her. All those clothes and boxes of possessions - obviously to comfort her.
What struck me is that the series really puts the spotlight on what a huge problem it is when children work instead of growing up with a childhood. Lindsay's been working since she's 14, not only for herself but for everyone around her. And now she's the one who's become an alcoholic and gets scorned for it. It's all so abusive and twisted!!
She can't even move into an apartment without everyone turning on her. Now she's got to pay a huge deposit for an apartment because of who she is and because of who she is, she hasn't got a job so she's isn't earning.
Clearly her mother's loaded so she needs to cough up.
