Forbidden Fruit, the lead track from Delazy’s new album,
Ascension, has moved quickly up the SA Top 100 chart thanks to nationwide crossover radio play listing.
Forbidden Fruit grew from a production collaboration with industry stalwarts Craig Massiv and Troydon Murisan – known now as Loskop. Delazy describes the ideas behind the track: “You love who you love. This life has no rules, there is no instruction manual, we don’t live to find ourselves, we live to create ourselves …”
After walking away with three
South African Music Awards in 2013 for her gold selling debut album
Due Drop and a 2013
BET nomination for Best International Act (Africa), Delazy announced the release of her brand new album,
Ascension. Her new album is characterised by a crystal clear artistic vision and was formed through her unique writing process and significant production collaborations, both local and international. Craig Massiv and Troydon Murisan, Shane Cooper, Ross Jack and Delazy herself formed the heart of the production team, with US-based Fresco Kane and Jazziel Sommers adding an international flavour to the collab credits. The key artistic collaboration comes from Cassper Nyovest appearing guest feature on the anthemic
My City, earmarked to be the album’s second single.
