Press Release

June Steenkamp breaks her silence

The mother the whole world has prayed for and sympathised with ... hers is a voice that many have waited to hear. Reeva Steenkamp’s mother June takes Carte Blanche into her home and shares her most intimate thoughts about life without Reeva and more.

Producer: Este de Klerk
Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender

Dark days for Eskom

It’s not just an immediate liquidity crisis. Eskom is on a knife edge and its future fiscal status looks equally dire.  Minister Lynne Brown this week openly admitted that load shedding could become a way of life for South Africans. But, is Eskom doing all it can to cut operational costs? Carte Blanche investigates unpaid bills to key maintenance contractors and evidence of serious wasteful expenditure.

Producer: Bernadette Maguire
Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender

Steve Hofmeyr in hot water

He’s been referred to as an “Afrikaner leader by default”. Singer Steve Hofmeyr is in the spotlight yet again following a Tweet that sparked a racial storm on social media. Hofmeyr has been accused of being a racist and a peddler of ignorance and has been forced to return a sponsored vehicle.  Are Steve and his detractors simply enjoying freedom of speech or abusing this right? Carte Blanche investigates.

Producer: Este de Klerk
Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender

Idris Elba

Madiba never had a chance to see the final cut of the film ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ - he died at the age of 95 on December 5th 2013, the very day that the film premiered in London.

Now, British actor Idris Elba speaks candidly to Carte Blanche about everything from becoming Mandela to play his part in the film, to how the press and members of the Mandela and British Royal families attending the premiere, found out that the global icon had passed away.

Producer: Joy Summers
Presenter: Bongani Bingwa

Carte Blanche is on M-Net on Sundays at 19h00.
