It's Oscar nomination time and no-one's prepared to bring us the reality show about what the nominees say to their friends, agents and families after they hear they've been nominated. Do their minds immediately turn to the competition? Do they believe they'll win? How does it test their confidence? Do other people start treating them differently?
This year's nominees will know the answer to these questions today (Thursday, 15th) when the official announcement gets made with the usual pomp and ceremony. The announcement's streaming live on YouTube ... this be it:
It's also going to air on M-Net Movies Premiere - all at 15h30 (CAT). It's the first time all 24 categories are being announced live apparently.
The announcement's being made by: actor Chris Pine, Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs and directors Alfonso Cuarón
(Gravity
) and J.J. Abrams
(Super 8
).
Tons of people must be dying to be invited to do this. Chaz (Cheryl) has it sorted obviously but how did the others get on the list? I've been browsing to find out and discovered the answer in a
Variety article. This is what one of the producers had to say about it:
“When we looked for people to join Cheryl on that stage, we looked for people that had wide reach around the world. And these three gentlemen made the most sense to us,”
I don't know if they're achieved their aim ... do the three of them have reach around the world?
