It's been 21 years since the South African Music Awards first arrived on the scene with our democracy and the nominees for this year's ceremony have been announced.

The contenders were revealed at The Rand Club in Joziburg this morning amidst hip hop domination, headed by Cassper Nyovest who bagged five nominations despite his recent split from actress Amanda Du-Pont. #CassandaNoMore

As you'll see, there are no nominees for The Record of the Year yet. These are being revealed this Friday (13 March) - on SABC1 on Live Amp at 21h00.

The ceremony takes place in Sun City again this year, on Sunday, 19 April and will air live on SABC1 at 20h30.
