SABC2 launches a visionary new talk next week hosted by
sleepy news journalist Ayanda-Allie Paine. It's called Visionaries' Lounge and offers visionaries a place to chill out and chat in between their "when-do-they-sleep?" lives.
The guests are all people who are doing notable, innovative things, with a positive impact. Some have invented new professions like one of the guests, Pitso Maleka, the owner of a grave closing business. Pitso and his company close graves at funerals so that families and friends don't have to ruin their threads doing it.
I chatted to series executive producer Khanyi Magubane who told me that the show includes a mix of well known and unknown people because the guests were chosen for their visionary'ness and not for their fame. Each episode gets to know one of them through a chinwag with Ayanda and a close-up on their favourite items, photos and other things that blow their hair back.
There are 26 episodes in total and the show's still filming and choosing guests who've been selected after a year of research.
Other guests who've been confirmed are Mosa Sono (founder and pastor of the Grace Bible Church), cancer champion Dr. Thandeka Mazimbuka,
Imtiaz Sooliman (founder of Gift of the Givers) and a rugby player, who's hopefully enough of a visionary to know whether or not we're going to win the World Cup.
The series premieres on SABC2 on Tuesday (13 October) at 20h30.
