It was supposed to be the end of the runway for America's Next Top Model but now VH1 has swept in to save it.Yip! The schmodel-fest lives on for another million seasons.
The show was cancelled in October last year during Season 22, which aired on The CW in America and on Vuzu Amp on DStv. Tyra made an announcement about it at the time and now, three months later, it's in the hands of VH1 who are going to reinvent it in a 14-episode season.
It's going to return to New York as the shooting location - without Tyra. She'll continue as executive producer along with Ken Mok but she won't be hosting. According to Tyra, it's because she has to turn her attention to "new business endeavors" but I suspect it's because her botox is starting to melt after being under the lights for so many seasons.
She's going to choose the new host and says that the show's going to go through a "fierce-a-fied rebirth!" so let's hope the new host is fierce without being fried.
There's no word on whether or not we'll see it on the Vuzu channels now that it's a VH1 property but there's no reason we shouldn't - will keep you in the loop when I hear.
If you missed Season 22 on Vuzu Amp, it's currently re-running on Vuzu on Thursdays at 19h30.
