Popular actor and director Nyembezi Kunene died on Saturday night (4 June) at Lesedi Hospital in Soweto after a battle against diabetes - but he's living on through TV.
His son Sonqoba
shared the news on his Facebook page on Sunday morning and paid tribute to his father saying: "You fought a great fight, a hero to the end. We will miss you Nyemza. This is the final curtain call, after decades spent entertaining South African audiences."
Nyembezi is well known to South Africans for the numerous characters he's brought to life on our screens.
Some of his character highlights include his role as Jabulani Dlomo, the uncle of Sibusiso (Menzi Ngubane), on Generations and his portrayal of Mchunu in the sitcom Emzini Wezinsizwa.
He's also been in a blitz of current TV shows with roles on Mzansi Magic's Ring of Lies, e.tv's soapie Scandal! and the channel's drama series Umlilo, where he plays Melusi.
Which means that he lives on after his death because we'll be seeing him on all three shows. According to a statement from Mzansi Magic, he'll appear intermittently on Ring of Lies until the end of the first season and e.tv has confirmed that he's guest starring on Umlilo tonight (6 June).
He'll also be very visible on Scandal! in his role as Dollar. He finished filming the show two weeks ago so we'll continue to see him for some time.
RIP Nyembezi.
