The schmodel-fest lives on for another million seasons on Vuzu Amp with the new, reinvented version of America's Next Top Model.
Vuzu's picked up the show again now that it's been saved by VH1 who
rescued it earlier this year when The CW canned it after Season 22.
It's not going to air immediately though. It starts in the US in September/October this year and it's scheduled for Vuzu Amp for 2017. It's probably going to air on Vuzu, M-Net City, M-Net Family and M-Net Whatsit afterwards and then, seven years from that, it should air on SABC2 on Saturday afternoons at 13h00.
The new judges and Tyra's hosting replacement were recently confirmed in an announcement in the US: singer and actress Rita Ora will be hosting in place of Tyra who's staying on as executive producer. Tyra's bestie and fellow executive producer Ken Mok will also be staying on while three newcomers take on the judging.
They are: superschmodel, entrepreneur and body activist Ashley Graham, chief creative officer of Paper Magazine Drew Elliott and celebrity stylist and image consultant Law, who has the unfortunate surname of Roach.
The only person I'm familiar with is Rita Ora so here's more about each of them if you're the same:
Ashley Graham has appeared on the cover of numerous magazines including Cosmopolitan, Glamour and Maxim, and is the first plus size model to ever be featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
Graham has secured many high profile campaigns including H&M and Lane Bryant, and has her own lingerie line with Addition Elle, as well as a swimsuit line with swimsuitsforall and a dress collection with dressbarn.
She is also a body activist and often speaks about body image, self-acceptance and female empowerment.
Celebrity stylist and image architect Zoolander Law Roach lives and breathes fashion. He revels in working with established and rising artists. Law regularly collaborates with major labels and companies. Fueled by his love for fashion, Law continues to distinguish himself as a stylist and style guru.
Drew Elliott is the chief creative officer of Paper Magazine and orchestrated the famous content social distribution strategy #breaktheinternet featuring Kim Kardashian. He oversees all creative direction of Paper Magazine, Papermag.com, and the in-house agency Extra Extra and is widely recognized for his keen sense of what drives popular culture and how it impacts the masses.
Flash facts:
- The girls are back solo. The new season's only going to have girls instead of a combo with guys as in previous cycles.
- The reason Drew Elliott's on the panel is because Tyra wants the winner to be someone who can be a Kim Kartrashian too. Bah!!
In interview with
USA Today she had this to say about it: “It’s no longer just about having the highest cheekbones and best pout and the best hair. My goal is to really get into these girls' heads that I’m not looking for some successful model and I’m not looking for some social-media star. I’m looking for both. I’m looking for a hybrid, because that’s where the world is.”
