I'm freaking out here people!!! I'm shocked and horrified at Donald Trump's win but there's also a part of me that isn't surprised because I've felt a dread about this moment since he first announced he was running for president.
It seemed so unbelievably unrealistic that a reality TV LETCH could become the President of the United States and yet there's so much craziness in the world that I suspected things might take a turn for the ultimate in mad.
And they have.
The president of the most powerful country in the world is a lewd, bigoted, misogynistic arsehole who promotes hatred and enforces division in a world that needs the very opposite.
Someone tell Pink Floyd to
do something!! I'm sitting here listening to The Wall as we speak because it's the only way I'm able to cope - knowing there are those who are freaking too because of how they've fought to tear The Wall down.
I keep thinking back to watching The Apprentice and how my feeling towards Trump changed. At first I liked him because I liked the show but as we got to know him I saw the light and ended up loathing him. If you'd told me that he would be president while the show was airing I would never have believed you. I would have bet my life it was impossible.
And yet it's been a fundamental part of his win. It got him into people's homes, turned him into a celebrity and gave him the platform to grotesquely brag about his wealth, like the obscene gold room he used to show off to contestants, bah!!
A couple of weeks ago I saw a woman with her child being interviewed on the news - she spoke about his wealth and you could see that she believed she'd be wealthy too if she voted for him so The Apprentice and the exposure it gave him had a huge impact on the results. I'm convinced it's one of the Top 3 reasons for his win.
These are the other two:
1. The majority of Americans obviously want to build The Wall.
2. Hilary Clinton. She was the worst possible adversary for him because of how many people can't stand her.
