It's four months after the events of Vlug na Egipte and the residents of Breipaal are living their lives to the full. The Haasbroeks are already part of the town, but the peace that prevails isn't all that it seems.
Lea (Leandie du Randt) has a will of her own, and Charles (Marcel Schoeman) is not quite sure what he is doing - until Dot (Marion Holm) comes up with a suggestion.
Rooikappie (Diane Wilson) decides it's time to move on from her great love because she has her eye on a man. Things aren't going too well for Lena (Clara Joubert), however, who is working and exercising hard, but without the necessary support to deal with thoughts that trouble her soul.
There are two new arrivals in town: Woestyn (played by Adrian Alper) and Pieter Wolf (André Weideman). Both of them realise from the first day that there is no such thing as a secret in Breipaal, and that the Karolites stand together when they feel threatened.
There are also surprising developments in everyone's lives, sometimes accompanied by shocking consequences - especially when Elder Giel Swiegers (Eric Nobbs) is involved.
Dot refuses to sit still and watch him use the laws of the church for his own benefit, but after some interesting conversations, it appears she isn't fighting alone - Troffel's (Richard van der Westhuizen) eyes are slowly but surely opening to what is going on.
The problem is that Troffel's wife plays a major role in his life - and perhaps a bigger role than just the daily management of his farm.
Breggie (Kay Smith) is now taking the writing of her book seriously and Kortjas (Chris van Niekerk) has to get used to the new direction that his life has taken - even though it's a lonely path to walk.
Tony (Frank Opperman) is clearly a man who knows how to turn enemies into friends - or is it perhaps the other way around? Sanna (Karen Wessels) is also starting to express her point of view - but is she supporting the correct viewpoint?
Gertjie (Rolanda Marais) hasn't let the grass grow under her feet, but the ways of love are apparently not that smooth. The female farmer is now also dealing with more than one problem on Daggafontein, and it's not just her hard-ass father who is making her life even harder.
On top of all this, the blessed, quiet life in the town is no longer so quiet and moody - a killer on the prowl has a knife with a few names on it...
