The 68th edition of the Miss World pageant takes place in Sanya, China, when Manushi Chhillar from India will crown her successor at the end of the event.
East London's Thulisa Keyi will carry the flag for South Africa at the pageant, competing with other contestants for the coveted title. Keyi was crowned First Princess (and Miss World South Africa) at the Miss South Africa pageant in May this year.
The Miss World ethos puts significant emphasis on charity work and each contender is required to volunteer their time or raise funds for charity. The pageant encourages the young women who participate to work together to make the world a better place.
