Skeem Saam scores highest ratings to date
Watch out Gen... Skeem Saam's on the way to becoming the country's No. 2 show!
It attracted record ratings of 8,582,650 viewers for the episode on 23 May 2019, the night after Rachel Kunutu (Lesego Marakalla) fled from her wedding to Marothi Maphuthuma (Macks Papo). Viewers literally flocked to see what happened next.
The ratings for the episode were a whopping 2-million more than the most popular episode at the
start of this year.
The soapie's previous record was 8,160,503 viewers in
May 2018.
This is the closest that Skeem Saam and Generations: The Legacy have ever been.
Giyani secures its following
Giyani's viewership didn't falter in May, remaining the same as its debut month. Its highest episode in April attracted 1,792,527 viewers, almost exactly the same as the 1,754,986 viewers in May.
