The Last Kingdom 3
Channel: M-Net City (DStv 115)
TX Time: 21h40
Genre: Drama, Action, Period Drama
Period drama based on Bernard Cromwell's series of novels The Saxon Stories which combines real historical figures and events with fiction, re-telling the history of King Alfred the Great and his desire to unite the many separate kingdoms into what would become England.
It is a contemporary story of redemption, vengeance and self-discovery set against the birth of England.
In the Season 3 premiere: His health failing and fearing for his legacy, Alfred sends Uhtred to confront a new threat: fierce Danish warrior Bloodhair and his psycho-swine sorceress, Skade (pictured).
Skade has issues. Which leads her to do Very Bad Things. Usually involving lots and lots and lots and lots of blood.
(Seriously - we don't remember The Last Kingdom being this violent and bloody. The amount of thick, dark-red, gooey blood being spurted into the air from hapless victims - in the first five minutes of the season premiere alone - leads us to believe the production bussed in The Starz Guy, who invented then perfected this blood-spurting effect on epic Starz period dramas of scale and violence, like Spartacus and The Pillars of the Earth.)
But if you're into some eye-hacky-spurty action, crack on. Skade's got you covered.

In the series premiere, Bishop Charles Ellis invites his closest preacher friends to his house to discuss how to save the city of Detroit.
Sparks fly when opinionated Pastor David Bullock starts pointing fingers at the other pastors.
