Elders: Japan is the second season after last year's Camino adventure in Spain. This time Erns Grundling and a small film crew travels to Japan, where they explore the Land of the Rising Sun.
With the forthcoming Rugby World Cup in mind, Elders: Japan focuses on this fascinating country that will also be in the global spotlight next year during the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Erns loves hiking, and to stay true to the theme of the first season, he will explore two pilgrimages in Japan: the Kumano Kodo (a sister pilgrimage of the Camino in Spain) and the Nakasendo, the former trade route between Kyoto and Tokyo.
He also tries to summit the iconic Mount Fuji - will he reach the top in thick snow?
Erns is a big rugby fan and Elders: Japan has a strong rugby focus, including interviews with Springbok rugby players in Japan, visits to World Cup stadiums and a kicking lesson from an All Black legend.
Erns also experiences Japan's wonderful culture, cuisine, overwhelming cities, beautiful scenery and he even tries to be a samurai warrior, ninja and sumo wrestler.
