The Republic
Channel: Mzansi Magic (DStv 161)
TX Time: 20h00
Genre: Drama
Revolves around the fictitional president of South Africa - Lufuno Mulaudzi - as she fights the corruption wrought upon the country by her predecessor.
In 2009, when president Kgalema Motlanthe's term in office ended, he was replaced by President Hendrik Mbuli, whose presidency was riddled with corruption and looting of state funds.
Mbuli was fired from government, making way for the party's secretary Lufuno to take the reins as president, leading to a tense political showdown and a story of political smarts and survival.
The series starts with President Mulaudzi having spent the last two years fighting corruption and prosecuting those who benefitted from Mbuli's presidency – including Mbuli himself.
Florence Masebe stars as President Lufuno; Warren Masemola stars as Thabang Manaka, a fallen hero trying to make amends for his past mistakes; while Masasa Mbangeni is Bridget Ranaka, a posh young woman from a rich family in Soshanguve.
The Republic is produced by Tshedza Pictures, who also produce The River and Giyani: Land of Blood.

TX Time: 18h00
Genre: Wildlife, Nature, Documentary
Oulls in two of the world's leading shark experts, Dr Mark Meekan and Dr Mike Heithaus, to unpack and analyze the mounting evidence that shark-on-shark attacks happen a lot more than we ever realised.
As the scientists explore what might make a shark turn on its own kind, the show draws on natural history footage layered with graphic imagery to learn about body language, shark senses and more.
Could the very traits that make sharks such instinctive and formidable predators be responsible for a cannibalistic dark side?
The experts also undertake DNA and stomach content analysis of sharks at a suspected shark on shark hotspot off Florida's coast. The findings could reveal how important shark meat is to the diet of Florida's big apex sharks.
The film combines UGC and CGI with eyewitness testimonies, real scientific investigation and stunning natural history, including footage of cannibalism inside the womb.
