Single Parents Looking for Love
Channel: BET (DStv 129)
TX Time: 21h30
Genre: Dating Game Show, Reality
It's not easy for a single parent to find someone - aside from what they want in a partner, they have to find someone who doesn't mind that they are raising a child.
And it's not just about someone who is comfortable with your child - it needs to be someone you can trust with your child as well, meaning you have to take great care in the dating process.
In Single Parents Looking for Love, each week one single parent goes through a series of challenges to whittle down four potential dates and to eventually end up with a new lover.
Hosted by Jo-anne Reyneke in her first presenting gig, the potential suitors will also face off with a panel made up of children who at the end will rate the suitors and give their parent feedback based on their interaction.
Behind the Amapiano Movement
Channel: MTV Base (DStv 322)
TX Time: 21h00
Genre: Music, Documentary Series
According to MTV Base, Amapiano is the fastest-growing music genre following Gqom, which took the nation by storm a few years ago.
This docu-series features commentary from artists like De Mthuda and Njelic hit makers of Shesha Geza, prominent Amapiano DJ and producer Kabza De Small, DJ duo Major League, award-winning vocalist Lady Zamar, DJ Zinhle, DJ Vinny Da Vinci and more.
What is Amapiano and where did it all start? DJs, producers and music promoters from four of Gauteng's biggest townships (Soweto, Pretoria, East Rand and Alexandra) claim to be the originators of Amapiano but the jury is still out on that one.
The genre has jazzy keys and a strong kwaito influence with its vocals - was the sub-culture born from the soulful sounds of Bacardi or is it just the evolution of deep South African House music?
The genre is rapidly growing and the "gong gong" sound is disrupting the music scene across borders on the continent.
Amapiano fans insist that it is a movement on its own. It's a cross culture lifestyle which has influenced dance floors and has brought a new energy to the club scene.
Will Amapiano fizzle out when the next hungry and pragmatic generation come up with a next creative sound or will it lead to another redefining cultural movement?
