Chasing the Sun

This documentary series charts the Boks' rise from dejection and under-performance to the pinnacle of international rugby, so vividly demonstrated when captain Siya Kolisi lifted the trophy in Tokyo.

From the intense pre-Championship training to the devastating loss to New Zealand in the pool stages and the triumphant final game against England, the series will allow South Africans to relive the highs and lows of the Springbok's path to their RWC victory.

The series starts long before the World Cup and tracks the Boks' path from also-rans, detailing how coach Rassie Erasmus got the team to believe in itself, to their remarkable coronation as world champions.

Erasmus appointed a new captain in Siya Kolisi and helped the team reclaim its identity. Defeat and denial were part of that difficult journey.

Chasing the Sun is a story of redemption with unprecedented access and exclusive contributions from coaching staff, players and commentators.

It is spliced with interviews with many of the key figures, adding perspective and context to one of South Africa's great stories.

The documentary is the story of how a team, a nation and the world came to discover that we are all indeed stronger together.

Secret Life of Babies

Channel: Da Vinci (DStv 318)
TX Time: 22h00
Genre: Documentary

Secret Life of Babies

This documentary special narrated by Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) will draw on recent scientific studies about the first three years of human life to explore a number of questions.

These include "What can a baby see and hear? How does a baby explore the world? Why can they swim underwater? How do they communicate? And why do toddlers have temper tantrums?"

So much development happens in the first three years, for example, we grow to what will be half of our full adult height, we learn to tell colours apart, we learn to walk and to communicate with people and animals, we learn to anticipate danger, and we even come to understand that we are beings separate from the others around us.

As well as exploring how all of this happens, the documentary reveals surprising facts – like that babies don't even have kneecaps when they're born, and they have no fear of even big, predatory animals, and they understand as much as three times the amount of words that they can say.

The documentary will also reveal how babies can recover when things go terribly wrong.

Top Gear 26

What's the best new family estate car on the market?

According to the Top Gear producers, it's the very competent, very spacious, very practical Skoda Superb.

But Matt and Chris reckoned there were a couple of better solutions to the family estate car question. Namely the 208mph Ferrari GTC4 Lusso, and the 190mph Porsche Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo.

Sure, they might cost a combined, um, £350,000, but they've both got boots, they've both got proper rear seats, they're both four-wheel drive.

How much more practicality do you need?

So to prove just how sensible and family-ish their Ferrari and Porsche really are, Chris and Matt headed to the fjords of Norway for a nice sensible road trip.

Incorporating chainsaws, tunnels, BASE jumpers, and a strangely persistent Viking.

Channel: HISTORY (DStv 186)
TX Time: 21h10

The Secret History of the White House

In 2010, tall fences went up outside the West Wing of the White House.

This massive, $376-million-dollar construction project was intensely guarded from the prying eyes of the press and downplayed as nothing more than a routine upgrade to the wiring and air conditioning systems of the White House.

What is the true story behind this sprawling, multistory structure whose underground assembly required truckloads of heavy-duty concrete and steel beams?

Many have speculated that the real centre of power for the White House is underground.

From the first bunkers built to protect FDR and Truman to the rumoured passageways, elevators and vault doors with biometric access control systems, this special will use CGI to explore both the hidden and known lairs that that lie beneath the most important piece of real estate in the America.

Piecing together information from secret sources and a two-hundred-year evolution of the White House, investigative journalists and government insiders weigh in on the mystery of an unusual white box and a top-secret construction project dubbed the "Big Dig" that took place outside of the West Wing from 2007-2012.

Using little known images, previously classified material and detailed graphics, the search for truth reveals not only what secrets might lay below the White House, but how their existence could affect democracy as we know it.
