eReality injects local flava into its line-up this month with the launch of eKasi, a new weekend slot featuring four South African reality shows.
It launches this Saturday (10 July) at 19h00 with Rhythm City star Mpho Molepo as the host of the first series and will be a regular fixture on Saturdays and Sundays from 19h00 to 20h00.
Here's a close-up on the four shows in the line-up, with a cut-throat channel war thrown in:
Pay Back The Money
Premiere date: Saturday 10 July at 19h00
A show that helps people get what is owed to them. Mpho Molepo helps people confront those who owe them money with the goal of getting it back.
The jaw dropping thing about this series is that the same show starts on Mzansi Wethu - on the same night, at the same time!
It's called Wang’Kolota and it's the same concept, except it includes the retrieval of belongings. It's also hosted by an e.tv personality: former Scandal! star Kagiso Modupe.
No, this is not a hallucination. It's real. Like eReality.
Which channel needs to Pay Back the Money?
BEEF!
Premiere date: Saturday 10 July at 19h30
A show that helps individuals "squash their beef".
The series follows host Rufus "DJ Rhee" Moremi as he helps participants sort out issues they have with others for the sake of peace in the future.
And the madness continues... Mzansi Wethu also premieres another new reality show, on this same day, at the same time.
Yip, it's called Ho Lekane, hosted by Kope Makgae who helps families resolve issues round "Black Tax".
Talk about channel beefs! Which channel would pass THIS test?...
Dare Lie to Me
Premiere date: Sunday 11 July at 19h00
Dare Lie to Me is a show dedicated to finding out the truth. The show follows host Siya Mdlalose who helps participants find the truth that's been hidden from them with the help of a lie detector test.
The goal: closure.
Shocker! No similar show starts on Mzansi Wethu.
Deadbeats
Premiere date: Sunday 11 July at 19h30
A show that addresses the social issue of "deadbeats". Host S’phamandla "Maraza" Mhlongo helps people confront parents about their absence in their children’s lives.
Our personal favourite. Down with the deadbeats!
