New Afrikaans-dubbed Turkish novela Fenix premieres on eExtra this Tuesday 11 May at 19h30 (once Wrede Stad ends) and
this is what it's about...
"The flames that change the lives they touch, the flowers that bloom from the ashes of a fire... the story of finding oneself, carrying on, seeking justice and true love..."
It tells the story of three women who live through the trauma of a fire that breaks out during a charity event and it follows the emotional impact it has on them and how it changes their lives.
This is who they are:
Cemre Kayabeyli
Played by Demet Evgar
Voiced in Afrikaans by Hannah Borthwick (James Borthwick's daughter)
Who is Cemre?
She's the victim of a violent nightmare of a marriage, subjected to violence and injustice. She's married to Çelebi Kayabeyli, a former mayor who uses his political clout to stop her from filing for divorce from him when she tries to leave him.
They have a daughter and Cemre wants to escape her marriage with her.
Rüya Yildirimlar
Played by Dilan Çiçek Deniz
Voiced by Karli Heine
Who is Rüya?
She's described as someone who's "never faced the bitter side of truth in her beautiful, privileged life."
Çiçek Görgülü
Played by Hazar Ergüçlü
Voiced by Celeste Loots
Who is Çiçek?
She's on the verge of losing her identity and beauty while trying to start a clean slate and happy life.
The three of them have very different characters and stories and their lives become interwined because of the fire.
